Nebraska's Fanbase

This quote from that thread is hilarious "tOSU only rival in big 10. the rest will sort itself out soon enough".

This Dbag already has Nebby in a tie with OSU at the top of the conference. As if they are just going to leap frog all other teams miraculously. We shall see how long it takes for Frost to get a winning Defense because he will not always be able to depend on that offense in the northern climes.

Not sure what is going to happen with Urban but he better get Luke Fickle or some other really good defensive guy or recruit some better , tougher players because Schiano isnt getting it done or his players are wimps. I am glad but it used to be OSU would take teams apart with their defense.

;)
But man, that online portion of the fan base........that is an insuffrable bunch.
so what I hear you saying is that instead of wearing black/gold they wear red/white.

Cuz a lot of the descriptions of Nebby fans in the posts above sound just like a segment of fans here....

;)

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

:)

They're right about Iowa fans, or at least the big money boosters and the AD, accepting mediocrity.

But yes Nebraska fans are delusional. I've said it before and I'll say it again. They better pray Frost can turn it around because they're never going to get a better coach who will actually stay there.

Same with Iowa and Brian Ferentz. Both programs could find better coaches. ISU has. But who could either program find that will actually stay there and view it as their destination job like Fitz views Northwestern?

Ya we should beat the top teams in the BIG every year cause we have so many talented in state players to draw from.

I could have sworn that I was going to read a thread about the corn shuckers. As usual the thread was hijacked by Iowa football haters. Stay home.

96-24 last 2 years. When Hawks get ahead 28-0 and increase that spread to 100 - we'll try to start the "Who's Your Daddy?" in the North End Zone

All Big Ten jobs are destination jobs. Name one coach that has left ANY Big Ten Program voluntarily in the last two decades to coach at a "bigger" college program besides Brett Bielema.

Not in the Wisconsin game. 66 yards of total offense. The 2 INT/TDs by JJ totaled more yards than our offense did. No. I don't see how anyone that watched that game can feel like we were "in it". That was a beating. And an embarrassment.

That's football. Just a few things to clean up. We played our specialists too much.

Right... the Hawks are ALWAYS in the game...

2015 STAN 45-16
2016 PSU 41-14, FLA 30-3
2017 WIS 38-14

So you meant "always... except when they're not"?

Ok...since 2015 and through two more games this year Iowa will have played 53 football games. Let's say they don't get blown out in the next two games. So, they are in 49 out of 53 games...or 92.4% of the time, they were competing and in the game with a great chance to win if they make the plays. Two of those were bowl games, so if you look at just regular season games it's 96.1%. Seems to me that supports my hypothesis.

I think the Nebraska fan base has a real problem between distinguishing the difference between a game that is against a rival and a game that is a barometer. Nebraska had Oklahoma to be both in a game way back when you had to dial a phone. If you read their posts, they want a measuring stick to be their rival and they got some lofty expectations.

The way the Iowa-Nebraska series is right now, it reminds me of the McCarney era Iowa St-Iowa rivalry, except we are playing the role of Iowa St. You got one team that refuses to acknowledge the rivalry and the other team that is willing to punk the former every chance they get until they acknowledge they are in a rivalry.

When you have lost 4 of the last 5 games with the last two being destructions 96-24 in scoring...and your only win was an improbable comeback in OT...well, you have to be brain dead in a coma not to recognize you are in a rivalry and getting your ass handed to you by your rival. Right now...Iowa owns Nebraska and has made them their bitch. Until Nebraska proves they can man up and compete physically on a short week...they will remain submissive.

In 2011 when this Black Friday game came about...Nebraska fans were up in arms about having Iowa in this slot. Well, they are 3-4 since the resumption with recent history showing they are the team that hasn't belonged.

In my opinion this becomes a more broadly recognized rivalry when both teams start contending for the lead in the West each year. This is not OK vs NE, nor is it even CO vs NE.........not yet anyway. At least both teams would be ranked in most years and conference leadership was usually in play.

In the meantime I guess NE/IA is a rivalry if bragging rights are the main issue at stake for the time being. If that's the case then there are an abundance of rivalries across the country.....most of which don't garner much attention outside of their own state borders.
