ND - Positives

Well we lost by a wide margin, and gave up over 90 points again but I took a ton of positives from this game.

1. Isaiah Moss. This kid is going to be good. He had 5 points and 5 assists and played great defense. He didn't shoot a ton because he was primarily guarded by VJ Beachem who is a very good defender. I like the idea of him starting going forward.

2. Jordan Bohannon. I wasn't too high on him until tonight. Having a guy that can shoot from way out there and feed the post like that opens up a ton for a team. I love the idea of Jok and him playing alongside each other the rest of the way. His defensive actually was okay too.

3. Cordell Pemsl. He's a big body guy with a variety of moves and skills. Plus he showed some heart tonight which this team needs.

4. Fran finally scrapped the press and zone for the most part. If we stay in half court man and learn to box out, we can be a decent defensive team in my estimation.

There was definitely improvement. With Pemsl and Cook scoring inside and Jordan helping from the perimeter, we just might become a team worthy of watching.....

We could acutally have 5 players in the game who are a threat to score.....

Jok, Cook, Baer, Pemsl and Jordan.....

Toss Moss in the mix and we could be hard to handle down the road.....

Must improve the Defense and rebounding.....

When Cook returns I would bring Baer off the bench and play him at the 4 when he plays. I really do not like him at the 3 because he cannot guard that position.

Bohannen, Jok, Moss, Cook & Pemsl is a really good lineup.

I really like that lineup. Then you bring Baer of the bench where he is better suited. Williams can sub in for the 1-3 just to spell those guys. Wagner and Uhl need to step it up, but that could be a really good team.

That's 4 freshmen starters too.

The only positives that I will be able to take away from this season will be that our future is taking it's lumps now, and should pay off next year. Maybe they develop enough by the end of the season to be an NIT team, but right now this team is not good.

Taking lumps doesn't mean it'll pay off next year, I'm actually worried it can create a losing culture in the program. Bunch of young kids who are don't know how to win

You just really aren't very bright. You just have such a myopic view of everything. You are so completely small minded and closed off that you don't have the ability to see things at all.

By yeah, losing young and taking your lumps, for sure creates a "culture of losing" and the kids won't know "how to win"....DERP Mike G., Saap, Woody, Marble, White all say Hi.....

We gave up 92 but ND shot 30-33 from the FT line so the point total is really deceptive.

Taking lumps doesn't for sure mean it'll pay off either. Mike Sapp Woody won 25 games their first year. Great example.

Nothing in life is guaranteed, so no shit Sherlock, and I know it is a great example. They didn't make the NCAA's, and a bunch of Fr and So gots lots of playing time and it paid off for the next 3 years. It isn't about the total wins, it is about the minutes played and experience gained.

I'm perfectly okay with that too since they aren't blocking anyone who is clearly better. Might as well get the youngsters a lot of run in what is essentially a rebuilding season.

I don't mind it either, but in year 7 no way should any coach be in position where he recruited so bad he now has to depend on 4 frosh to start..

the most positive thing I took from it is Iowa is gonna be real good over the next few seasons, what a foundation that's being laid. If you can't see the future talent that's being thrust into minutes early than you're not a Hawkeye fan because everyone else can.

Of course Jok can't guard anyone either and what do you do with him when he shoots 4-20 and makes an endless number of bad drives throwing the ball away. When he's on watch out but when he's not he's a liability.

Yeah, Jok was flat out bad last night - which is another clear positive - Iowa hung with a potential sweet 16 team on their court for 3 Quarters with their best player playing about as poorly as he can. The talent on this team is going to be bouncing off the court over the next few seasons.
