Why aren't people piling on PSU for not participating. If Iowa sat out we'd be getting ridiculed.

I think it's an issue that has been beaten to death and most people don't care anymore. There is honor and prestige in competing, especially for the winner, and it's PSU's loss for not participating. My guess is that Penn State will participate next year.

OBTW, what is a Nittany? My daughter saw their mascot the other day and asked me what it was. She said it looks like a mouse and she googled it. It's a fictional character! There's no such thing as a Nittany Lion except in the minds of the PSU faithful.

I agree. I just remember there being a huge outcry when Iowa didn't participate and haven't heard anything about PSU not competing.

Iowa did participate last year. You're thinking of 2 years ago. Last year Iowa was beaten by Minnesota when Stash gave up the OT victory to Yohn after pinning him in their earlier match up. Iowa finished 3rd.

The wrestler you reference is Waters. He is ranked #4 despite being undefeated because he hasn't faced the toughest competition this season.

right, but I thought maybe twade may have seen something different because he's got walters ranked #2 on his pdf

I just uploaded a new file - I had Waters with the #2 ranking rather than #4.

telford is going to have a tough tournament with #2 Nelson and #3 Gelogaev

i guess they'd rather be wrestling the tough competition of rider and rutgers to get ready for post-season

Evans is going to have a tough tournament with #2 Nelson and #3 Gelogaev

Especially with all the weight he'd be giving up. Nelson has to be close to the limit and Gelogaev can't be that far behind. Mike was at 165 early in the year, though he's probably pretty comfortable at this point in the season at 174.
