#1 Oklahoma State
125: Klimara
133: #7 Morrison
141: Feikert
149: #1 Oliver
157: #9 Dieringer
165: #3 Caldwell
174: #2 Perry
184: #11 Chionuma
197: #8 Rosholt
HWT: #3 Gelogaev
Oklahoma State goes in the National Duals undefeated and has some wins over Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri and Cornell. The power horses are Oliver, Caldwell, Perry and Gelogaev but with a solid lineup they should have no problem getting passed Illinois and into the finals. If we wrestle them in the finals #3 Mike Evans will wrestle #2 Chris Perry and #6 Bobby Telford will get #3 Gelogaev. There are some other notable matches but these are the marquee matches.
#2 Iowa
125: #1 McDonough
133: #2 Ramos
141: #8 Ballweg
149: Kelly/Grothus
157: #1 St. John
165: #13 Moore
174: #3 Evans
184: #14 Lofthouse
197: #19 Burak
HWT: #6 Telford
Iowa comes into the National Duals wrestling their best all year. The hawks knocking off Penn State was an upset but we match up with them very well in a dual format. Iowa’s big guns, MCD, Ramos, DSJ won’t be the key to victory up in Minnesota it will be our upper weights. MCD does have #6 Garrett of Cornell first round but I really don’t think he’ll have any problems. MCD needed that loss from Delgado and it will pay off in the ‘post season’.
#4 Minnesota
125: #13 Thorn
133: #8 C. Dardanes
141: #9 N. Dardanes
149: #6 Ness
157: Zilverberg
165: #14 C. Yohn
174: #1 Storley
184: #5 Steinhaus
197: #11 Schiller
HWT: #2 Nelson
When most people think of Minnesota they think of them always having solid heavier guys but this year they are solid up and down their lineup. The top dogs are #1 Storley and #2 Nelson but I am very impressed with their lower weights as they mature into these weight classes. Minnesota look like the clear favorite on paper against Virginia Tech but make no mistake the Hokies will come to wrestle so expect a good fought dual but Minnesota will be prevail and move on to wrestle Iowa in the semi-finals.
#5 Ohio State
125: #12 Triggas
133: #1 L. Stieber
141: #2 H. Stieber
149: #11 Tessari
157: #18 Demas
165: Martin
174: #6 Heflin
184: #20 Magrum
197: Courts
HWT: #13 Capone
#1 Logan Steiber (18-0) and his brother #2 Hunter Steiber (26-0) are just studs and love watching them wrestle.Logan is averaging 5.5 team points per dual so he is clearly their top dog. Ohio State has a great team but they face a tough opponent first round drawing Missouri. As many people want to see Ramos and Steiber wrestle at National Duals it just won’t happen as this team just doesn't have enough horse to get past Missouri let alone Oklahoma State.
#6 Missouri
125: #4 Waters
133: #5 McCormick
141: Hucke
149: #15 Houdashelt
157: #19 K. Bradley
165: #16 Toal
174: #13 Porter
184: #12 / UR Larson / Eblen
197: #18 Haynes
HWT: #1 D. Bradley
Missouri is led by Waters and Bradley who are both undefeated this year. Some people have asking why Waters has not jumped in rankings. MCD lost but the fact of the matter is he just hasn't wrestled anyone this year. Dom Bradley (29-0) is just a beast and will be the one to beat in March. Expect a great first round match up but after that the Tigers will fizzle.
#7Virginia Tech
125: #5 Garnett
133: Spjut
141: #12 Neibert
149: #9 Brascetta
157: #7 Dong
165: #4 Yates
174: Gabel
184: Vetterlein
197: Borlie
HWT: Marone
The Hokies has a good shot at hanging with Minnesota up through 165. They will need a few upsets in those lower weights to have a shot at beating Minnesota because when they get to 174lbs they will take a beating for Minnesota’s upper weights. While I wish them the best it just won’t happen.
#8 Illinois
125: #3 Delgado
133: #10 Thomas
141: #3/UR Futrell / Rodrigues
149: Ervin
157: Nora
165: #8 Polz
174: #8 Blanton
184: #19 Dallago
197: #14 Gonzalez
HWT: Lopez
Illinois is ranked higher then Cornell but they received the 8[SUP]th[/SUP] seed sending them to wrestle #1 Oklahoma State where they will have no shot at beating them. They lost Futrell which just puts a dagger into open wounds. Perry vs Blanton will be a great one to watch but other than that don’t waste your time watching.
#10 Cornell
125: #6 Garrett
133: Dixon
141: #13 Nevinger
149: #14 Villalonga
157: Shanaman
165: #1 Dake
174: Peppelman
184: #4 Bosak
197: Bennett
HWT: Lane
Cornell will be favored at 165 and 184 but other than that Iowa should win the other matches. MCD has not wrestled Garrett and has had a great year this year going 33-3 but will have to be on his game against MCD. I don’t know anything about Garrett so hopefully Matt does not have any issues in this match. Ballweg should have a good match up with Nevinger but think he’ll get the job done.
