Nate Kaeding chimes in and defends his coach

Good read, thanks for sharing. I can appreciate former players defending their coach, but do you think any of them are going to come out and slam KF? I just hope they get things figured out, but we are seeing the same mistakes week in and week out that has me worried.
 
There was one thing I found really, really interesting in that column....

The part where he mentioned some of the things KF would say to the team. One of them was, "There is no big picture." Do you think that's KFs way of having the team only worry about each game as it comes along and the "big picture" will take care of itself? I guess I've never heard of an executive not having his group focus on the big picture to understand why the details matter.

Then again, I'm probably reading too much into it! :D
 
This just goes to show we have no idea what we are talking about and what happens inside the Iowa football complex is beyond us by a lot. I have fallen into the crowd of blame and chastizing, but really I just want Iowa to win, and I have to think that everyone in the complex wants it worse than I do and they probably feel worse after a loss than I do. (Or they should, not so much feel bad, but we shouldn't take it as personally and let it control us as it seems to do)
 
I can think of one who would do that.

And the response? "Consider the source."

But back to the article.

This is basically what we all know about KF and the Iowa program. We just don't like it when we have to go through these developmental periods.
 
I really appreciate the level-headed perspective in this thread so far. Maybe it's because of Nate giving us a rare peak into Fort Kinnick.
 
Not going to read it because he has nothing to gain by saying anything negative. Hes one of my favorite Hawks but you have to be a real dumb dumb if you think he would say anything but positive. I know some of you out there are a little to dumb to know this about business.

Publicity. Maybe he wants an in for after his playing days. Im not gonna think hes a doosh for saying positive things. However a lot of people would not like him if he saids negative things.

You are right about him being positive, but you won't even read it because he won't be negative? You need some positive reinforcement to brighten your day.

This is exactly it. Fans get so wrapped up in this, that some actually think that they care more about this university, the players, and the team than the coaches do.....it is beyond delusional.

I dont need to. Its not like I want to hear negative things. I just know everything is going to be sugar coated. I dont care to read a fluff piece made to pat Kirk on the back, and try to tell everyone that everything is okay.

You on the other hand have something to gain by being negative all the time on HN? Why do you even hang around here, when you are actively rooting for Iowa to lose every game they play while KF is head coach?

Its cause I like you. Its not like Im the only one on here anymore that wants him gone. I think Frans a good coach if that helps. Atleast I can tell hes awake.

That was a good read. Really hits it home and changes my perceptive on Kirk.I'm not happy with Iowa losing to the Chips, but I suppose the team isn't either. Hopefully Kirk takes the necessary actions to get back on track.
