Name that Iowa Freshman Point Guard

Production is what matters most. That being said you can't say someone is just as good or better than someone who is in a completely different situation. We all know Bohannon is getting minutes because he's really the only PG on the roster. If he was at Xavier or somewhere else he might not be playing much at all
Umm, you consistently compare Moss to Bohannon. You think that's the same situation?

In an entirely different situation. Unless you think being a wing player only asked to do little is the same as being asked to run the offense.

Please knock the king over, your game is done.

Moss is good, Bohannon is not. Shouldn't compare them you're right

Yeah, Bohannon just terrible -- had the same number of assists as Edwards, Mathias, and Thompson . . . . combined

Gesell wasn't the point guard most of his frosh year, thus 89 assists and third on the team. Clemmons would be the better comparison for assists as a frosh with 105 (Marble led with 112). I think folks forget how great he was as a frosh before his awful sophomore slump. That said, Chauncey Leslie played quite a bit of point during Horner's year too.

You might want to go back and recheck your numbers. First of all Clemmons had (105 assists). Secondly, what the heck are you talking about? Mike has started at PG since day 1. He was always the starting PG, and he played 25 MPG his Fr. year compared to AC's 16 MPG. Clemmons was 9th on the team in minutes played behind Ogelsby, McCabe, May, Woody, Basabe, White, Gesell and Marble.

Already fixed his total, but Sapp started a point when he did start that year. He didn't start for the whole season though. And Marble took over after Gesell got hurt, started at point the following year, until Fran decided to put Mike at the point and move Marble to the wing part way through the non-conference. Gesell didn't even start all the NIT games after coming back from injury which is when Marble ran most of the point, thus keeping him there to start the following year.

Here is the old article from his sophomore year when Fran made him the point guard for good.

I quoted you before you edited I guess. Gesell was absolutely the PG his FR year, so I'm not sure what you are even talking about.

Gesell was the PG his Fr. season, he got hurt late in the season, but he was the starting PG then entire season (when he wasn't hurt). Sure it changed when he came back from injury for the B1G tournament, but the entire season he was the starting PG, and it wouldn't change a thing, as Jordan is already past him, and probably will pass Horner's record for Assist for a Fr. as well.
