My thoughts on ISU after watching their game v Tulsa

What I saw from ISU offensively is exactly what you said. They are quick. They can run the same offense as NIU, but can actually throw out of it. I have not been confident in this game since I saw how Iowa looked last week. Even with big improvements, I'm very worried.

One note on Woody - he strained a muscle in his foot. Was in a boot as a precautionary measure this week. Rhoads said he'd play but I wonder how much.

well be fine if we bring more than 4 guys on d against steele pee in my jantz. well shut him down if we do that. i think JVB rebounds and throws at least 3 tds and bullok gets at least 2.

final score iowa 41 clowns 13

No chance of that beat down.

I honestly doubt that will impact the game very much. Definitely won't change Iowa's gameplan.

I'm not discrediting Woody, but I think you have other backs that can compensate with other skill sets just fine.

why not i think jants gets shut down and gives the ball away a few times and JVB and bullok combine for a few tds. a few fgs and this game could be blowout potential. clowns will come in overconfident and get smoked.

this will either be a close game like he said or we destroy the clowns. i think we destroy them.

I just don't see this game getting to that because of the talent level. In 2009/2010 Iowa put up 35, but the talent level for Iowa isn't there and ISU's is better. I dont' think jantz will struggle as mightily as you think and I have yet to see anything that gives the impression the O can produce those numbers.

NIU's d-ends were VERY quick and created a lot of disruption. I just don't think that ISU's d-line will be able to create the same types of problems.

Still not sure how our defense will do against them, but confident that our offense will be better.

My question precisely. Any chance we bring in another DB or will we just try to cover with our LB's?
I see ISU spreading us out and QB drawing all day long on us.:(

Bringing in another DB isn't going to help that any.

Although if you do bring in say Castillo as a Nickel that allows our SS to play a little closer to the line.

My concern is how many times will the lb's get beat by wr's. Morris is bad in coverage and he was picked on A LOT in last years game.

What I saw was a Tulsa team that sucked worse than ISU sucks. This will not be nearly as close as Jon sees it. I see the Hawks by at least 3 touchdowns. IA Rocks. ISU sucks.

The offense will need to stay on the field for long, time-consuming drives to keep the D fresh.

ISU played 12 d-linemen last week. They will be fresh throughout the game which will be the deciding factor late in the game.

Iowa will go nickel instead of putting their LBs in space, right?
Kirksey actually did pretty well in space though. Hopefully they are quick to notice if it is or isn't working and make an adjustment. I don't want a repeat of Neilsen getting smoked all day.

I always hated seeing nielson beat in coverage. But, kirksey is faster than some of our secondary, so I am not concerned on his speed.
