I do not care who you are, but if your only job is to make an extra point and turn the knife in someone's back, you have to make it.
28-27 is much different, especially when you are on the road. Their crowd got excited after the miss, then the team did, and their coaches played for 6 pts, not 3.
Our D could have pinned their ears back with us being up 28-27.
Also, DJK might want to take a few extra snaps with Stanzi after practice, especially with balls that hit him in the hands instead of posting all kinds of crap on Facebook and such that gets a total rise out of everyone on this board, and the other team.
I really like DJK, but he did nothing extraordinary tonight to help Iowa win this game. Any other receiver could have caught the one TD pass that he did.
Luckily our teams learn quick from these types of games!

Do you even have a clue? This game was not lost on a kicker. You can't throw Mossbrucker under the bus for this loss.

Well McNutt didnt do to well either on that Pick six and another drop he had. Also you act like Murray has never missed a PAT.

Melrose, my point is that any momentum we had after the Binns pick 6 was lost on the PAT. This was a game of momentum swings and we had a chance to steal it and lost it. if you thought I was throwing Mossbrucker under the bus, sorry. I just know that if you are the kicker in that situation you have to get the ball up no matter what.
Yes, McNutt's drop of a pick 6 hurt, but I don't see him talking smack all week against an AZ db who made more big plays than DJK did.
Maybe he will just learn to shut up and play like Kirk wants him to.

wow.... ::shakes head::

I totally agree with this post. The missed extra point was crucial.

Mossbrucker is not the answer. Go with Murray or the freshman.

I hear ya & I can't disagree.

Does nobody remember how p***ed people were about the chip shot FG that Murray missed against OSU? The PAT was hardly the cause for this loss.

The kick certainly didn't cost us the game, however it sure might have made a big difference in turning back over the momentum. I'm thinking in the celebration we should have used up a TO there to settle us down and focus the team.

Murry's kicks certainly don't LOOK as good as most of Mossbrucker's. It's a toss up. KF should put his head on a bat and spin around a bunch, then the first kicker he runs into is the one the kicks the fg or pat.

I had to post this on tos also. Please watch the game a little closer before throwing someone under the bus. Mossbrucker's extra point was blocked. Right tackle was blown up and put on his backside and kick was blocked.

The kick hurt. If you tell me 28-27 isn't different than 27-27 for the home team, you are flat out wrong. Guarenteed AZ would play differently. Not to mention to MO would have stayed with the Hawks.
Two plays changed this game. The missed/blocked extra point and the kick of return.

AGAIN...I am not throwing anyone under the bus! Mossbrucker is a good kicker and he is accuate, but he needs to know to get height on the kick, or a shorter/quicker step n' kick in case of a rush. Then again, maybe our specail teams coach should have said something instead of taking the PAT for granted.
Maybe I should have name the post, "our missed PAT totally swung the momentum!"

What did Murray ever do that sunk the Hawks? His kicks may not have looked real great, but I cannot remember a single game he lost for the Hawks.

The OSU missed chip shot is the one that most people point to. I agree that was a big miss, but we had plenty of other opportunities in that game.

But, when you have as many low knuckleballs as Murray had last year, your just asking to get one blocked at a crucial moment. Mossbrucker got blocked because the defender made a Clayborn play at the LOS. I don't find myself holding my breath when Mossbrucker kicks.

^This...OSU...and it is only a matter of time before he cost us in a BIG way.

Moss or Murray, it doesn't matter to me. Average kicking. Pretty common in college FB. Only a handful of teams have legit kickers.
