Most Valuable Big Ten Coach?

Ron Zook, because he has been valuable for 10 teams, not just one.

Nicely done.

Oddly enough, a Google Images search for "zooked" brought up some interesting hits. One was a nudist colony I think...

I didn't want to...but I had to vote for Fitzgerald.

I did too. Without him Northwestern would have 3 decent seasons every 20 years.

I nearly did, too, but moved the radio button at the last second to the Captain. As much as I dislike his smugness and the way he has owned Ferentz in recent years, Fitz certainly has been a huge difference-maker for that program and has stayed when he could have moved to more prestigious programs.

I don't think all voters are reading the definition of "most valuable coach". I voted Fitz too, because I agree that they would slide back to the cellar without him (I know Gary Barnett was very successful there too).

KF doesn't meet the def in my book for this poll. Iowa was good/solid for nearly 20 years before KF took over. Fry built that. Now a bad hire, could send Iowa back into the dark ages (just see basketball as proof). That could be said of nearly all B10 schools.

Fry took over a dismal Iowa program and turned it into an upper tier Big Ten program that regularly competed for conference titles. But it slid in his final years and KF had a major rebuilding program. His integrity, stability and ability to develop less talented athletes into NFL players have been key parts of Iowa's success, which has not come due to Iowa's long tradition of great football or location within a fertile recruiting center.

Correct.
