What they're saying is that the guys that know baseball well will vote for Trout, and old, irrelevant writers who still think that "Wins" is how you determine a good pitcher will vote for the inferior candidate, Cabrera, because the commissioner told them they were not allowed to vote for Joe Di Maggio anymore.

Its funny how dumb you are. Please keep going.

To me it is this: Cabrera was great and willed his team to the playoffs while putting up these numbers. he had others, but without him they would not have been a .500 team

With Trout: Great player on a great team that can't make the playoffs.

Haha. The Angels have a better record than the Tigers, it's not Trout's fault that the Rangers and A's have a much better record than the White Sox.

You talk about the Angels underachieving and the same could be said for the Tigers all year.

Travis is spot on in this debate. It should be Trout for MVP.

Trout also has a ton more talent around him on that Angels team than Cabera has on the Tigers team, I think this is Miggy's MVP to lose right now after all his team made the playoffs and Trout's team didn't and for some reason voters think that makes players more MVP like....just ask Albert to lost 3-4 of them while in STL cause his team didn't make the post season.

The only time Pujols lost the MVP because his team didn't make the playoffs was 2010. Other years that he didn't win the MVP he was either far back in the voting, his team made the playoffs, or he lost to Barry Bonds during Bonds' Incredible Hulk stage.

Cabrera will win it now that he has the triple crown. The sad thing is he was the 4th most valuable player in the AL this year behind Trout, Cano, and Verlander. For me, the reason it's so important that Trout win it, other than the fact that it wasn't even close at over 3 wins better, is that many people view baseball as a non-athletic sport. A big reason for this is because so much in the past has been attributed solely to hitting. The shift to sabermetrics has added the other equally important elements to the game. Overlooking a historic season by Trout in which he absolutely destroyed the competition sets that back in my mind. Cabrera is the best hitter in the league. Trout is by far the best player in the league. Give Miggy the Silver Slugger. Give Trout the MVP he deserves.

Trout may be an all-around better player, but how a player can win the Triple Crown and not even win the MVP is beyond me.. Trout is just as deserving, but Cabrera will be MVP. Especially since the Tigers are a playoff team.

Except that 6 of the last 7 Triple Crown winners haven't won the MVP so, I guess there's 6 years in which you can find answers. My guess?? There were better all around players than the triple crown winner.

Out..with your keen eye of defensive skill lol.....Tell me this...

We know that Miggy is a "great 3b"...

How was Brandon Inge as a 3b defensively over his career in Detroit?
How would you rate Boesch defensively?
And how would you rate Peralta defensively?

The Tigers are a playoff team but the Angels are a better team. They won more games and played in a much, much tougher division. Miguel Cabrera is going to post his lowest OPS in three years and he never won the MVP before, so why should he automatically get it now? Just because it's been a down year for the rest of the league in batting average, Cabrera will have the lowest average by an AL batting champion since Rod Carew.

Trout is the better and more responsible for his teams' success than Cabrera, he should be MVP.

Im a Tigers fan and have watched all but maybe 10 games.

Cabrera is a great third baseman hes not just some DH. He also runs the bases very smart for a big man. To say hes holding up his team on the base path is dumb. Also one of the better third basemen in the league. Yeah you dont see him rob home runs but doesnt mean any number of diving stops thats hes made hasnt saved the game.

Yes it is silly to say trout should win. Its not even close. The only reason for trout to win is if they want the rookie story.

LOL

Disagree ALOT, Trout has alot more stud hitters around him than Cabrera has and it is not even remotely close. Cabrera has carried his team alot more than Trout has done.

He's carried his team to a much worse record than the Angels with Trout. Also he has Prince Fielder hitting after him and Austin Jackson in front of him so Cabrera isn't in too bad of a situation himself.

The team stuff is dumb. Both of these teams underachieved. Detroit just happened to be lucky enough to play in the worst division in all of baseball with a worse record than the Angels.

What happened in previous years is 100% irrelevant to this year or in other eras (Carew). A batting title is still a batting title. It's what Cabrera has done relative to the rest of the league THIS YEAR (not compared to his own stats in previous years) that matters.

And since you bring up OPS:

Trout - .958
Cabrera - 1.002
