Missing those you luv

Several Hawkeyes are leaving us to hang out on the pay board.

I'm gonna miss Deano and Huck. Of course they are gonna miss me terribly.

Share with us who you'll miss??

You should see some of the stuff 56 is posting over there.
Hey TK, Where has 5656 been? My wife and I recently returned from China and I have been searching through the various forums. Many familiar names, such as yours, which I appreciate because I am able "LEARN THE GAME" from you guys. I sincerely miss 5656's posts if for no other reason they would constantly prove to me that I was not the dumbest person on the internet.

I miss Vinscorp, Duff, etc. who have been hanging in the wings waiting for a pay board to start up. Since I won't be paying, I'll keep missing them. :(

There's a division in the HN Xtra thread.

Some people think it's a bad idea and some people don't. I can see both sides and agree with them. On one hand people are mocking those who can't handle dissent. That does remind me of "safe spaces" and "trigger words" silliness. On the other hand public discourse has gone downhill. I think of the Ken Burns documentary on the civil war. Those boys writing home with Shakespearean eloquence. Young people in the 1860s were better communicators than people in the 21st century. How does THAT happen?!?

Ain't missing any of them! If you need your safe space, now they have a board for that. I wish however that Jon would call it was it is -- a money grab. Stop beating around the bush with 'trolls this' and 'private info' that. Just come out and say it -- you've built a successful fan site and you want to take economic advantage of that. Nothing wrong at all with saying that but just be honest about what your intentions are instead of vilifying the dissenting posters on the free boards.

They want to monetize their "inside info". I think it has very little to do with being "troll free". That's just a semi-clever sales pitch that they are using because they have a handful of people who have told them trolls bother them and they'll participate more if trolls go away.

Here's the thing... This is just my opinion so take it FWIW.

1. You could very easily get rid of trolls on the free board. They've been allowed to lurk for way too long in the past. If you actually thought that was scaring away customers then freaking ban them quicker. Don't let them troll on for months at a time like 5656 did. I think there has been very little effort put into banning trolls so to use this as an excuse for a troll free board is a little ridiculous. That's like having a bug infestation and spraying one little part of your lawn then complaining about it because it didn't go away.

2. You can release inside info to a free board just as easily as you can to a paid board. Either way you aren't naming your sources, and in both instances you're still sharing the information. It's still going public. It's still getting out. There's no need to hide behind something that it isn't. They want to use their inside info and contacts to make money. It's as simple as that.

Agreed on both points. Just be honest about the motivations, nothing wrong with that.

Weren't you going over to HawkeyeReport? I can't say I've ever seen anyone piss and moan over $3.00 as much as you.

And before you say again how much you don't care how they run their business, you bitch a whole lot for someone who doesn't.

And you bitch a whole lot about what I post. Drama Queen. Shouldn't you be over on the pay board ;)?

Did I say that? Of course not. Just another thing you've magically created inside your head you know... because of that comprehension problem of yours.
Well I can't think of anything else as to why you keep crying about it.

You said you don't mind trolls. So that's not a reason you would bitch about a pay forum.

You said you don't believe there would be any true insider info. So that's not a reason you would bitch.

And the free board is obviously just as busy as before, so that's not a reason you would bitch.

Hmm...if it's not the money, you must just be frustrated and want to hear yourself gripe? I honestly don't know. But I do have a comprehension problem...

Cool story bro. You're boring me. Good luck on the inside man.
