Miller: These Hawkeyes Are Easy to Love (Post Ohio State)

On offense we may be short on outside shooters but the biggest problem I see is the lack of size inside on D. We are forced to collapse in and double the bigs which allow for kick-outs for wide open perimeter shots.

Fran says all the time it only takes one big time player, and he is 100% right.

That is why I ask if Iowa should take a chance on a talented JUCO player ala Jamal Tinsley, not Devon Archie.....

Tinsely was at a JUCO for a reason but he stayed eligible and out of trouble long enough at ISU to make a real big difference on that ISU team.

Does Iowa need to look for a guy with issues and see if he can be trusted/mentored through 2 years at Iowa to help expedite the rebuild process?

I think we can win with the recruits we are getting. Woodbury would be a big body that would be a difference maker.

If Marcus Paige would somehow choose to stay home (LONG SHOT), it could be one of the biggest commitments for an Iowa team in the past three decades as far as what it could mean to a program. Singularly, I don't know that I could think of anything bigger.

I dont think it will happen, unfortunately. But he could be a program changer.

Spot on. I totally agree. He might not be the best commit to Iowa talent-wise, but most significant in the past 20+ years absolutely.

The injuries have hurt but they are 7-7 (only going to get way worse), are probably a bottom 3 team in this conference and have lost to some bad non-con teams.

They are fun to watch, learning and getting better but they are terrible.

Let's not forget, home court advantage is huge in college basketball. Crappy teams challenge good ones all the time at home.

Terrible teams don't have a chance to beat Illinois and Ohio State. Iowa is not terrible. We are young and inconsistent but improving every game. This team is much improved from last year. Last years team was terrible.

Iowa is ranked 72nd in Pomeroy out of 345 D1 teams.
They are an average team, yes, but not terrible.

I don't think Pomeroy is too valid at this point. Once we get reamed by some good teams on the road that will drop. We lost to Wake Forest, South Dakota State, Long Beach State and clobbered by a not too impressive Xavier team. We are 7-7 and will be lucky to get to double digits (at best we'll have 12-13 wins). We haven't beaten any one good. We are going to be one of the worse BCS teams out there. There is no way that's average.

Just because this is the best thing we've had to watch in 5 years doesn't mean we don't blow ***.

The last two Iowa teams almost beat Ohio State and Illinois also. Home court in the Big Ten (and college basketball) is a big deal. Hell Iowa didn't get blow out that often at home under Lick.

There's a difference between not getting blown out when you're practically stalling all game (Lickliter), and not getting blown out when you're actually banging and running with your opponent (Fran). The former is relatively easy to do, the latter is quite a bit more difficult.

Oh come on. Come up with something so I can come back with an amazing rebuttal. Maybe I can question your sexuality or something clever like that.

How? I'd love to see you back up some thoughts with like logic and stuff. I bet you can't do it.

You fail to use logic in your posts as well. You overlook the fact of how this team has been improving with each game, and is still in a transition period where a new coach has come in and is establishing a new competitive program. You point to early losses as your reasoning for why we are not good, loses in which we were still in each game. Which is another thing you selectively overlook, that fact this team has shown the ability to be in every game. You use your selective logic to then predict that we will be one of the worst BCS teams out there. This could not be farther from the truth. If you think that we are one of the worst BCS teams out there, how do you justify the result of the final score tonight against the number two ranked team in the nation?

Oh, and I was just quoting the bed intruder song, don't get too huffy and puffy. You can watch it here...

THERE IS NO BCS IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL!!!

I freaking hate when people refer to basketball schools as being a bcs team, makes zero freaking sense...

Yes we almost (but didn't beat teams). WE'RE FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!

Are we acting like "WE ARE FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!"? No.
I believe this thread was started about how these hawkeyes are easy to love. We know we aren't world beaters, we also know we aren't one of the worst teams in the BCS either.

You're taking this to the extreme. It seems that in your eyes, it's first or last. Just because we aren't FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!, doesn't mean we're terrible. This team really isn't half bad. They've played pretty well overall thus far. And considering that we were without May tonight, that makes their performance tonight look even more promising.
