Miller: Iowa & B1G Bowl Projections 11/27

Even worse than the Michigan situation:

LSU-Alabama rematch makes mockery of BCS system - Stewart Mandel - SI.com

"The BCS is an easy target again this week, as fans and media laugh and scream about a system in which a team (Alabama) can actually benefit from failing to reach its conference championship game while another (LSU) could get there, lose and fail to suffer drastic consequences."

Ie, LSU could lose the SEC CG and they won't fall out of the top 2 because, well, why should they? :rolleyes:

Btw, if Georgia DOES beat LSU, shouldn't they automatically deserve to be in the title game?

Assuming that psu doesn't get picked, which all the other networks are predicting to happen, would the insight pass on the opportunity to take tOSU? They do have the pick over the gator bowl this year, and let's face it, when urban is coaching the buckeyes, the lower tier bowls probably wont get the opportunity for a long time.

I just feel like one of these bowls will understand that this year's PSU team shouldn't be punished for actions years ago.

The NCAA is not going to ban OSU from a bowl game in the next 6 days. It's stupid to even keep bringing that up.

The other thing in play big time here is that the Gator might not even get a chance to take Florida. The Chik-fil-a picks ahead of them, and assuming Clemson loses the ACC CG, they would normally be slotted here against Auburn. However, those two teams already played and open the season against each other next year.

The Peach might take Florida (next most attractive SEC team) to match against Clemson. That leaves Auburn for the Gator, and I think would increase Iowa's chances dramatically for that game. That is the best possible scenario for Iowa, IMO.

The PSU Rivals board posted a couple of Tweets from Jerry Palm and some other dudes who I don't recognize saying that the Insight is not even considering them. Says they like Iowa due to how well we traveled last year and that it's shorter trip than either PSU or OSU for the fans.

Only two ways its not Houston now

a) Michigan doesn't get into Top 14 in final BCS and just one up to BCS
b) ncaa says OSU can't go bowling this year

Jon

If it ends up being Houston it will be a great game. Not so much just because I live here but a matchup for instance against Texas A+M would be tremendous.

The Houston Hawkeyes would welcome all Iowa fans who would choose to come.

Now they're saying maybe Iowa - ISU in the Insight Bowl.

Cedar Rapids Gazette today online. Insight said they wouldn't be opposed to this rematch.

I hope Iowa doesn't play ISU again. I was just trying to talk my wife into a Houston trip, I don't think I would waste any good will with the wife to see the rematch

I wouldn't be thrilled by it either, except as a TV viewer. I'm still hoping for Jacksonville.

Insight = Zero Interest

Gator = Some interest

Can someone answer who picks first--Gator or Insight? Jon says in this thread, its the Insight. However, this article from AZ says its the Gator.

Fiesta Bowl should say no to Penn State for Insight game

The fact that the bowl rep from the Gator has so bluntly said it is taking OSU makes me think they are picking first. Otherwise, I would think there would be a very strong chance the Insight picks OSU.
