Mike Stoops Tidbit

I can't help but wonder why so few of our assistants have ever been offered other jobs/promotions to other schools, not even small ones. Seems to be a telling sign. We need some new blood in this program, especially on Defense, because the status quo isn't working and the new style of play is college football is passing our defensive coaches by. Phil Parker is not the answer either, he had a chance last year with a group filled with NFL players and they consistently failed in crunch time to make a big play and win a game.

If he comes, keep him in the booth. Don't need him storming the sidelines making a general a$$ of himself

I'm hoping this happens now more for the fact that I want to see all the haters have a conniption fit over the whole deal.

I would like to see some emotion on the sidelines. I was ready to throw the tv through the window on Saturday and all we get from KF is the chomping of the gum and the blank stare. Somebody needs to be trying to fire these kids up.

I said shortly after he was fired at Arizona, he would be a good fit at Iowa at defensive-co-ordinator. I wasn't sure he would accept a lower position but it seems he is receptive to it. GO GET HIM!!!!

Two questions for this thread....Yes I could google it but I don't feel like doing that right now rather I will ask the smart people on this board.

1. What is Mike Stoops track record as a DC? I don't remember Arizona being a defensive powerhouse while he was the head coach there.
2. Would Dan McCarney be a better DC than Mike Stoops?

Mike is 49 and KF is 56 I believe. Mike I am sure would wet himself if offerred the DC position at Iowa b/c he would likely see it as a way to end up as the HC in the next 5 years, if the chips fall the right way.

I don't know either of them personally so I have no clue what kind of a fit it would be. Based upon what you see on TV, the two look like polar opposites.
