No offense, but people bitch about Dolphin on here all the time....including me.

I think there's sometimes a reverse bias going on where people who are sensitive to racism and sexism are looking for the times that it does happen and overlooking the numerous times it happens the other way. I can tell you there are many many people on here who have complained about Dolphin, about Jack Buck, about Gus Johnson, etc, etc. But it doesn't fit the "narrative" so it gets overlooked....

So what are we talking about? Male privilege? A dude sucks and it is okay, a women sucks and it is the worse thing ever?

I'm saying its hilarious to me that people still hold a grudge for one mistake Beth Mowins made on live television 3 years ago. Meanwhile a legend like Harry Caray can go on a 5 minute cracker jack rant on live television and people will say "that's just Harry being Harry".

its like how Joe Buck can occasionally provide some great commentary on a game but people still hate him because its cool to hate Joe Buck and Nickleback. Its just absolutely insane to me the amount of energy people expend actively hating broadcasters

Hold a grudge for what? I, like many others, simply don't like to listen to her because her voice is annoying, and she doesn't know what she's talking about half of the time. I don't have any hate for her she's just not my first, or tenth, choice for broadcasting Iowa games. Also, Harry Caray has been dead for what? 20 years? Not relevant anymore.

The only one you've mentioned that I've seen recently is Gus Johnson. Yet it seems once a month there's someone disparaging Mowins.

If people here say the reason they don't like her isn't based on her gender then OK, I'll take their word for it.

But she's a woman in a male-dominated sport who I'm sure has to take a lot of crap from some sexist knuckle-draggers who put her down probably both in person and on social media. If nothing else, she has some courage to keep doing what she's doing.

I'm not crying "sexism", but people view Harry Caray as a legend and especially toward the tail-end of his career he didn't know jack sh*t about the players he was covering or what was happening on the field. he was always drunk and telling people what a players name backwards sounded like. Can you imagine the outrage if Beth Mowins did this live on air? This forum might meltdown....and yet Caray is a legend and Beth Mowins doesn't know anything about the sport she's covering? It just doesn't make sense to me

That's true. But part of Harry's schtick was that he was the "drunk average guy being honest, calling the game." He was the guy sitting in the bar stool next to you at Joe's Tap, any other corner tap. When he made mistakes, it was funny. But he also knew the game of baseball. His ability to express that knowledge left him with each Old Style, then Budweiser he drank in the booth.

Beth Mowens is no Harry Caray.

Who remembers the corner tap and misses them? Wow....an American institution gone by the wayside.

Have you not paid attention at all to the list of other female names that have been thrown out that people who don't care for Beth's announcing have named as enjoyable announcers? Or are you just full steam ahead on the "sexist, knuckle-dragger" narrative?

Like someone before said, they can't prove they don't like Beth for reasons other than her gender and you can't prove that they do....so it's probably best to just drop it....cuz the Hawks are kicking off tomorrow!!!
