I still can't believe he wasn't a major contributor in the League right away. Extremely interesting to see that he was called up from the practice squad over former Spartan BJ Cunningham. The top two receivers in the B1G last year, and both end up as 6th round draft picks and on the practice squad of the same NFL team. McNutt had 1,315 yards last year, and Cunningham finished with 1,306. The leading receivers in the history of Iowa and Michigan State football. Just crazy.

Philly really wasn't the ideal place to land for a guy like McNutt, if he wanted to make an immediate impact of any kind. With Jackson, Maclin, Avant, and Cooper, plus Celek and McCoy, there wasn't many other receptions to go around.

McNutt's ideal role on that team is the one Cooper plays. Cooper isn't the fastest guy in the world, either, but he's got good hands and size. Good complement to the smaller speedsters in Jackson and Maclin.

Agreed, It could be worse but there are quite a few other teams (I'd list them but it's about 10) where I can see Marvin contributing or possibly starting.

Face it, we are in dire need of getting a WR contributing in the NFL, so we can present that to recruits. Da Miller recently wrote a piece on the lack of Hawk WR's in the League over the years.

Danan Hughes, Quinn Early, Timmy D. Hawks have plenty of star receivers.

How long have they been out of the NFL? I hope McNutt sticks..We need skill guys in the NFL to show prospective recruits that can be them if they come to Iowa.

Why do you think its interesting that he was called up over Cunningham? From the stats you posted its clear that Mcnutt is better. :)

pretty sure Ronnie Harmon lined up at WR too. WR U almost.
They may have put him in the slot, but he was mostly a career 3rd down back because of his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield...oddly enough it was his hands that mysteriously failed him in his biggest moments as a Hawk and a Buffalo Bill...weird huh...hmm...

That does seem fishy now that you mention it. I wonder if something's up with that?

Chandler, Meyers, Moeaki, all great WRs at the University of Iowa. Not sure why we can't recruit more speeders like these guys on the edge.
