McCall confirms departure

Didn't we just get a 4 star commit tonight at RB?

That would soften the blow possibly.

I don't look forward to another season of Marcus Coker toting the rock solo.

Does it matter who we have / don't have other than Coker? He is the only one that will see the field next year other than Rodgers to block for him. Maybe he can get 1,500 yards and we can finish 6-6?

Apparently many do not realize that no other team in the country features a FB at RB who takes 2.5 seconds to hit a hole and 5 yards to hit top speed. Coker is a nice back, plays hard, is durable....lots to like, but featuring one back, any back, is lazy coaching. One less RB to fight over those 40 carries available to people not named Coker.

Garmon is committed to Iowa
also Coker did not carry the ball 300 times
i expect Rodgers to get carries from the start as i believe he is 100%
23 carries a game is not a heavy load
30 carries is a heavy load

also i want to know where these 40 carries a game came from as i did a little research awhile back and found the team avg 34 running playes a game and JVB avg 6 of those
23+6=29 out of 34 carries a game leaves 5 running carries left over to give to another back

I suspect that McCall would have gotten plenty of carriers this year and had proven he was capable. Unfortunately he got hurt and when his opportunity came it didn't go his way. If you can play the coaches will get you in. If Garmon can play he will get carriers.

This. Yet so many "Iowa fans" fail to see that.

Goodbye McCall.....

Hello, GG, Greg Garmon that is.....

He certainly looks very good, power plus quickness. Like the way he jukes running at full speed, leaving the defense grasping at air.....

So using this logic, is it safe to assume Bullock, Canzeri,, Johnson, Rodgers and White can't play? What did these guys do to deserve a year long benching? We finish 7-6 and return one back with any legit game experience.

jewel hampton v 2.0 Over hyped and unproven.

say what you want about hampton - but i saw him deliver one of the most devastating blocks i've ever witnessed a rb deliver. i won't forget him getting nearly horizontal to the ground and obliterate a guy.

And he worked very hard to get back and the staff basically decided not to play him. He fumbles and that's it, doesn't get another chance. I don't blame him for leaving. Wonder if this staff will be able to keep the new running backs coming to school or they will force them to leave after one year. This staff has a real problem with keeping kids...

Not in sync with the program? The guy gets hurt the first game of the year after he looks like an amazing player. He works his tail to get back to playing status...the staff then ignores him for several games while running our one back into the ground with no respite. He plays and fumbles and never sees another minute of playing time. Out of sync...hardly, a better explanation is not being given the chance. Ferentz will run a kid into the ground before playing other guys.

That is one reason for the shape of the program, young players not being given the opportunity to play or loyalty to older players, whether a younger player deserves to play or not.

And here many of you are saying good riddance and just a few weeks ago were telling all of how great he was and was going to become. Now he is a hasbeen...perhaps it is the coaching staff that are the hasbeens?

Agreed. He absolutely smoked that LB! Not going to lie; I was excited to see him as the feature back.
