If he can practice, then probably no chance of a med. redshirt.
Let' see what happens before questioning the intelligence of 'decisions'
I think I brought this up in a thread a few weeks ago, but since Ferentz has taken over, can you recall an Iowa running back redshirting his freshman season, and then playing four consecutive years after that? Meaning no significant injuries, grade issues, getting kicked off the team, transferring, etc.?
Who was the last one? Ladell Betts?
Pretty incredible when you think about it. In other words, if a true freshman is ready to play at running back, even in a very limited role or primarily on special teams, it is worth playing him.
Odds are he'll use that redshirt later for injury, grades or a transfer, or decide to quit anyway.

Name me the prominent four year contributing running backs in the Big Ten over the past decade. There are less than you think
If you are going off their podcast... He says McCall is practicing this week. The game dates are total speculation.
Thats makes pulling Canzeri's redshirt incredibly stupid.

Albert Young is one. And he only redshirted his first year due to a fall camp injury, IIRC.

Can't even include AY as he was hurt in '03 (broken leg) and '04 (ACL) and only played three years after that.
