McCaffery/Barta Statement over McCaffery Outburst

To be honest I had a bigger problem with Lickliter's enormous lack of emotion than with Fran's occasional outbursts. I like a coach that gets fiery.
Agree.

So Fran gets a "T" every 12 games or so. Big Deal.
He has a east coast temper that isn't typical for most Iowans. Get over yourself.
Did he cross a line. Yeah. And he got teed up for it. No apologies. No suspension.

Next game.

Barta has a lot of power, but he isn't a very good athletic director. If he was going to talk to Fran and express his opinion to Fran, he should of done it in private. It should of been between him and the coaching staff. Barta will probably be at Iowa a long time which isn't very exciting to me personally.

i'm sure you have a list of relevant examples - i'd be curious for some of them.

what makes you think there wasn't a private conversation? what makes you think that part of that private conversation was an agreement to make a statement? and you know who else has a powerful position? the big ten commissioner.

Wish he would have done this against Nova in that Scam of an east coast biased mafia operated tourney in Atlantis. Still don't understand how he kept his composure during that fiasco.

All the complaining about a coach getting fired up. Ridiculous. Have all you people already forgot Lick Ball already? Fran is doing great. We are good. We could still be playing Lick Ball and sucking. Then the only controversy would be if Carver ran short on raspberry ice cream. This stuff is exciting. QUIT CRYING PEOPLE. Enjoy, good times.

Evidently the officials agree with you and not me. But when I first seen the play I thought the Illinois player was going to get ejected and it was not until I seen the replay did I even realize the Penn State player took a swing. I am not sure if they reviewed the tape on that play before making the call but the camera angle I first seen it live was completely different than the angle the official had.

To me it was an equal dirty play by both players but the Penn State player looks worse because he threw a punch. Think about how you would react in that situation if you had a player throw his shoulder into your back, it is tough to not react the way the Penn State player did. That Illinois player took a cheap shot and got away with it. We will have to agree to disagree on it.

No punch was thrown. He shoved the player with the palm of his hand, and not very hard. Ejection was still warranted due to contact above the shoulders, but the Illinois player who initiated contact, with obvious intent, shoulda received a T.

As always the retaliator takes the brunt of the punishment.

what did he say? give me a breakdown. i'm lazy.

1st T was planned due to bad calls & to break up Wisc momentum, 2nd T he lost his temper which was a mistake that negatively impacted Iowa in the game and he regrets it.

He didn't make contact with the ref and said the ref 'knows that'. Seemed like there is no beef with the refs regarding any sort of contact.

Has respect for that particular ref crew, considers them a 'big time' crew and has no negative history with any of them. Basically he just thought the home cookin' was a bit overdone.

Interviewers are mostly complimentary, mentioned how much passion he brought back to the Iowa program. One said there is no team in the country that looked so good losing 2 games (IaSt, Wisc).

Fran doesn't expect any punishment.

Thats it I think homecooking is really being overdone in B1G .Thats why B1g is not my favorite conference for last few years. I'm starting to dislike watching basketball because of refs everywhere is doing alot of homecooking. I love basketball when its is fair game but lately i think the game is being corrupted big time. I love the Hawks but ..... it's corrupted big time
