Martin OK'd

It's pretty obvious what happened here. Rob asked his source, his source said yes but they aren't announcing until Monday so don't tell anyone, then Rob asked if they can wait until Tuesday so the tool on the message boards won't be right.

LMAO!!!!!! Damn I got a fractured rib and you aren’t helping it one bit. You’re killing me here!

I love the NCAA. Them deciding on waivers is like my wife deciding on where to eat.

I used to use the ol'

Me: "Guess where we're eating tonight?"
EX: "X"
Me: "Yep - how do you know me so well?"

trick with my ex, but my new gf caught on too quickly, and so now I really have to choose different restaurants to keep her from being bored.

Keep your stick on the ice. We're all in this together.

The problem is that we don't know you or your source. Saying a source "close to the situation" is relative. We don't know how close. Your close could be way different than someone else's close.

It's not "what the heck" when it's news people have been anxiously waiting for more than a month.

As people on here know, I have a source close to the situation that allowed me to report that OM was coming to Iowa. When the person a Twitter put it out around a week ago that OM was cleared and news was coming soon, I had to contact that source, who shot it down. Now I'm having to do it again because this was put on this board.

You have a 50-50 chance of being right, but would you put a large some of your money on being right?
The OP has nothing to lose. Rob, you wouldn't put something speculative out there because you would be at risk. Keep up the good work!

It would suck wasting all that money on a lawyer just to be injured all year so it doesn't matter.
Well it still could matter if he was able to win a medical hardship waiver giving him another year of eligibility.

Put another way had he not been eligible this year and got hurt, he couldn’t apply for a medical hardship. If he gets his waiver and is eligible he’d have an opportunity to pursue a medical hardship giving him another year of eligibility at the back end of his career.

Nonetheless it doesn’t sound like the injury is that serious and we will know more on his waiver soon enough.

We speak with KF at 1:30 today. Hoping we get some clarity on this situation from him.

I don't believe Martin's injury is one projected to keep him out all year.

He's been limited at practice but that's not why news hasn't been released on his waiver. It's because they don't know if he's eligible yet.

Thanks, Morehouse had me worried.

Is it anything like my wife telling me to go ahead and chose a place

and then after three “suggestions” from me to which she says “No”

then I say, “okay, why don’t you chose.”

You know what this thread needs? More wild, unsubstantiated rumors.

Fact 1: Martin played about as much as any receiver on Kids Day, Desmond Hutson ran with 3rd string and was not targeted.

Fact 2: When BTN was in town, Martin did not practice, KF told Revsine that Hutson could play this year.

Fact 3: According to the internet, which is rarely wrong, Martin has been cleared by the NCAA, but neither the school or the family have said anything abou tit.

Fact 4: Marc Morehouse is sending out crytpic tweets:

Conclusion: Martin did get cleared, but might have to miss the season with an injured shoulder. They didn't want to make an announcement and then risk deflating everyone 2 days later with the injury news, so they are awaiting test results and medical decisions, and then The U of Iowa will make an official statement. Trust the internet, they never steer you wrong.

Injury? Damn! If only we could get James Franklin and the P$U docs/staff to sign off on this!

If it's true and he is injured and cleared, I hope he's able to make it back this season. Otherwise that's a whole lotta fuss over nothing. I can only imagine how stressful it has been for him and his family.

But if I remember correctly, the University can't say anything if the athlete doesn't sign a release about their health. So there's a possibility we'll never hear because Ferentz respects privacy and doesn't make an announcement about the NCAA's decision either. With as private as the Martin's have been about these things, I could certainly see and respect that the announcement never comes as they let their story fade into the background during what should be an awesome season of Hawkeye football.

Maybe he can become KFs "Willie Guy"?

I usually give my wife the 3 places I would like to eat from. She then gets to choose 1 of them. Then the next time she will give the list of 3. It has really cut down on the frustration and fighting about where to eat.

What?!?!?
Why would you think there isn’t supposed to be fighting? ;)

Seriously, that’s a Good idea.
But I noticed when she chooses the 3 restaurants that you didn’t say you get to chose the one to go to. :D

We eat where my wife says we're going to eat.

He already used a redshirt. He would have to go back to the NCAA to petition for a sixth year.

Almost wonder if it would be good to play it that way. We're the deepest at receiver maybe we've ever been. It'd be only one year he'd then play with Smith and Smith-Marsette, then have two beyond that. But that's way too complicated I guess.

No way, the world of football is a win now deal. Iowa (and every other school) needs the best talent on the field now. There isn’t time to worry about 2022. They could recruit a 4* guy by then, or have another home grown guy by then. You have to get your best guys on the field. I like The returning guys, but OM could give you plays you desperately need against these teams on this schedule.

And we are all a bunch of wankers for making up all these crazy theories. They have not yet heard from NCAA (unless you want to go tinfoil-hat conspiracy and argue that KF is lying for some reason).
