Mandel calls KF One of Five Worst

I am truly sorry that Mandel's foolish article has drawn 11 pages of posts on this message board. It may be even more sad that Out of Town has been responsible for no fewer than 24 of the posts on this topic. Although I have his messages blocked, since he ran out of original thoughts many moons ago, I would guess that most of the 24 messages are negative comments about KF. Right? His Tonto, or Freed, mercifully, only added 4 this time. Whew. Some of the other usual suspects joined right in with Mandel on the party. Thank you for your continued attention to redundancy!

1. you have nothing to say

2. I did list what kirk does good

3. You counted my post

4. You added to a thread you think is foolish with what?

5. You say I have no more orginal thoughts? Is that your only thought?

6. I like to put numbers next to my points.

7. Now if you have me blocked you can see that I responded but you cant see what I wrote? You alway had a tough time reading or thinking about anything I said once you found out I didnt like kirk.

well, how do we rate a coach who's team allows C. Michigan to drive the field, score and recover an onside kick and score again.

or - in general a coach who can't field a team that can't get out of their own way and score an average number of points against a very easy schedule. How many points against ISU? Indiana? Purdue?

Delay of game while running no-huddle "hurry up".

not one of KF's Finest Moments.

----------------

How do you rate him? You don't. You attack anyone who dares to point out those fact.

What outsiders think matters to the point of how national reputations matter when it comes to recruiting and hiring. That's it. When a single national writer like this writes a hack job article like that he had his intent behind that. It's to bring down Iowa and or big 10 with it for some reason and or so he can prop up other schools/conferences. It's the only thing that makes sense cause the basis of his reasoning is only on how much Ferentz makes. The rest of it is garbage if your comparing him to the rest. He's not a bottom 5 coach in the big 10 let alone the nation. Good grief.

His intent is to generate readers, the same as it was when he thought KF was one of the best.

Kirk is 7th at best in the conference right now, would have been lower but Beilema left.

Meyer, Fitz, O'Brien, Hoke, Pelieni, Dantoni and possibly Wilson are all better and we don't know what Wisky and Purdue will be.

In my humble opinion I would put Ferentz above these guys in no particular order. The others have at least an argument of being above Ferentz these guys either just plain aren't as good or havn't been at it nearly long enough in Obriens case. Just my 2 cents

Beckman
Kill
Wilson
Hazel
Anderson
Dantonio
Obrien

You can argue Dantoni all day but no way on Obrien IMO.

Id put him second to Meyer and thats only because Meyer is such a ruthless recruiter. Give them the same talent and Obrien probably beats Meyer 7 out of 10.

I would like to see O'Brien at a school without strictions, I am with you that guy can coach. You take away those two bad loses at the beginning of the season and people are singing a different tone about PSU all season long.

Obrien has been a head coach for 10 mins the jury is still out on him and Wilson. Ferentz has a better career record then Hoke I believe I'd read somewhere. Even tho I would consider him better then Ferentz for the sake of this argument. Now Dantoni I can see there being some back and forth on. Yet I think Dantoni when he first started pretty much tried copying Ferentz blue print for building a program and pretty much started poaching our recruits. Once Iowa offered then he'd try to swoop in. Iowa would do the evaluating and leg work and then like a vulture he'd start his thing. Alot of programs do that it's not a crime I'm just sayin I think that doesn't help make one a better coach then another. But if you think those guys are all better then Ferentz ok I find it an interesting debate

So the point of yours is what exactly? You didn't like Mandel's article either but you hate that Iowa fans are using their time to discuss it? Isn't that pretty much the whole point of what these boards are about? This time of year there isn't a larger softball to be thrown as far as a discussion topic going on right now. I find it funny that people hate these type of deals yet can't resist reading and commenting about em. If you don't like it to that extent WHY ARE YOU SPENDING YOUR TIME DOING IT!??! Let those of us that choose to discuss it do it without your apathetic opinion on what is or isn't worthy of being a topic butting in. Please and thanks

Just voicing an opinion...thought that was what this board was all about. Can't fathom how I have stopped you or anyone else from continuing to discuss...

Well you did comment on what I said even though you have me blocked and cant read what I said. By all means though feel free to stop by and tell everyone how your better than this 12 page thread in this 12 page thread.

You didn't answer my question. Why are you spending your precious time reading and commenting on something that you feel isn't an important enough of a topic for others to be discussing? That doesn't make much sense. Just trying to help you out and save you the headache of wasting your own time. Other then just trying to stir the pot for the sake of it I can't see a logical reason for that. If you have one I'd like to hear it.

Hunter, you see like a decent fellow...for a husker fan, and you don't seem to try to ruffle too many feathers. I am a Hawkeye fan living in Omaha.....your program, 2 of your last 3 coaching staffs, and your players know football and tradition....but if I have to hear one more husker fan infer that somehow they are "more knowledgeable" than any other fanbase...well.....ugh. Despite what the tv commentators state every d@mn time nebby plays in lincoln, the fanbase is no more knowledgeable than any other "football state" fanbase....they just are all zero'd in on one team. If I had a dollar for "Hardcore husker fan" that I see rocking their sweet blue Creighton gear come basketball season....I'd be hanging with Warren Buffet.

Not sayin it's you, as I said you seem to make fair points most of the time, but "from an outside perspective", husker fans are no less fanatically ignorant than anywhere else.

rant end....
I agree with most of what you have said with the exception of 2 things:

1) I never said that "we" know MORE than any other fan base, or specifically Iowa's fanbase. I actually have heard and seen a lot of stupid s**t that our fan base has said that just leaves me shaking my head and embarrassed to be associated with those people and

2) Most "Die Hard" Husker fans are NOT rocking Creighton gear during basketball season. Those people (the "Jay-Skers" as we call them) are normally one of 2 things: either a Creighton fan that has no other football team to root for, or someone who has graduated from both schools. Its pretty common for someone to go to NU for undergrad and CU for grad school. The former sickens me but the latter I can understand to some extent, I guess.

I didn't mean to infer that I know more than anyone, but from what I have seen from KF, he is (or at least was) a damn good coach. I think he did some really good things for your program and respect that.

But anyhow, this summer has sucked, I can't wait for football season to start.

I guess I did not make myself clear. I simply would have preferred to have Mandel's drivel met with complete silence, rather than indirectly giving him more attention. I meant to criticize Mandel, not the majority of the posters. Secondly, I really did not spend much time reading the posts on this topic; my comment was more on the number of pages than on the content itself. Third, I love to take shots at a small number of posters who consistently find fault with nearly everything KF does; it does annoy me that they simply repeat the same critical views with little new information to add to the entertainment. What really makes them mad is that I am a staunch defender of our head coach, though they seem to miss the times I have been critical of some of his decisions. Finally, I don't really understand why you went on the attack with regard to my post...you seem to defend peoples' rights to voice their opinions and then attack me when I exercise that option. I am not going to continue to argue with you about this, unless you wish to switch it over to a PM exchange...I doubt that most posters are interested in our personal arguments. OK?

You are not good at this silent thing bub.

Fair enough. I didn't take what you'd originally wrote that way at all obviously. My critique of you was entirely off of my thinking you were just trying to troll and stir the pot to get your jollies . I am all for sharing of opinions and debate. For that I apologize.

Loved this part of your post. Totally agree with it. That small group of posters you're talking about are like Cyclone fans who are unable to admit the Hawks will have a good basketball team this year. Once you defend KF or what he has done at Iowa you are immediately a KF supporter. They don't remember the posts where you criticize him or some of his decisions. How dare you be level headed in your approach! How dare you have the intellectual ability to see things from both sides of the fence. In their world you are either a KF supporter or one of them. Just the way it is.
