Lindy says Iowa wins the B1G and maybe gets in the playoffs

Let’s not get too carried away about the schedule. Objectively (Phil Steele), has Iowa’ sos as 37th so hardly a gauntlet of doom n gloom with many of their competitors much higher. As long as the dynamic duo is in IC, you won’t see a daunting schedule (at least from an objective point of view and against their peers).
I think if it is not as easy as it could be and not as hard as it could be either, then it's avg or the mean.
In the end it doesn't matter who lines up across from you, you find a way. That's life.
Problems come up. Shit happens. It's what you do when that happens that matters.

Sam Mckewon of the OWH picked Iowa to win the West. I think it's his way of trying to jinx us.

As a poster who often offers sarcasm at no charge myself, I appreciate your post. Wait, you were being sarcastic, right?

Let's see we know we will lose to Wisconsin, and NW yet again. Then there's the matter of Kirk can't beat Brohm at Purdont. Then I would suspect Big Red Bugeaters (depending on their record) will be all in against the Hawkeyes and odds are that Iowa State beats us. Matt Campbell is too good of Coach to keep losing EVERY year to Kirk. We COULD end up with a losing record this year but I don't think that has happened often with a 3 year starter at QB for Kirk.

I find it hard to understand how even a casual fan let alone someone who must be a big fan if they are posting on this board to think it a foregone conclusion that the hawks lose those games you mention. First of all Iowa plays Purdue at home this year which is an advantage but it will probably still be a tough game. Second of all the hawks usually give the game away when they lose to jNW which is a team that hasnt throttle the hawks in about 20-25 years. If hawks play a clean good game they beat jNW.

The Nebby game is so far away and the weather could be crap so let's not even talk about it. I like our chances right now against Nebby as our front 7 on both sides of the ball, including a TE and fullback to go with Off Line, are better than Nebby.

Wisky will be tough but they looked lost toward the end of last year and if their QB and the passing game are off we can stop their run game.

exactly... as I said in my post, no tears were shed in 17 when they faced a top 15 or so schedule and won 8 games. It didn't matter, it wasn't good enough. In 15, when Iowa went 12-0 - all of their hard games were on the road. A tough schedule isn't an excuse for only winning 7 games, but it certainly can be the cause. I am not ok with it and either are the players and coaches - so I doubt many have any kind of loser mentality.
I bet if you could poll the iowa coaches and players privately their predictions would average out to a 10-2 season. I think they know they have the parts to make this a really good team. then you play the games and see where all the weird bounces go and how the calls go.

What are you talking about? Who else faces 5 pre season top 25 teams on the road? I’ll wait.

Expect results? Seven or eight wins gets you a job for life in Iowa City. As buzz light year likes to say “To eternity and beyond.”
Yep beat your non conference cupcakes and win 4 conference games and all is well in Iowa City. That's considered a good year. If I were a coach I would be beating down the door to coach here. All that is expected is average at best.

Funny thing is I did some research before I posted this...perhaps unlike yourself. We could go undefeated too! Injuries and TO's play a big part. I definitely believe we will win at least 7. IF we lose all the games (many of which are ON THE ROAD this year except Purdue) I mentioned we have a good chance of being the best 6-6 team in the country.

Actually, since it would good for about a million laughs, I will promote you to take over for KF.

I think its actually easier than its ever been for Iowa to win a B1G title. The West is getting better but still does not have a powerhouse program that recruits at an elite level. And unless Nebraska revives the Tom Osborn era that isn't going to change unless they realign the divisions. Its not hard to win the West.

For example, last year it took a miracle 10 point comeback with 3 minutes left by NW over Nebraska and Iowa completely sleepwalking against NW for NW to get to Indy. If those games go different, Iowa is there.

Basically, find a way to win one of the weaker divisions in the P5 and then you have a one game championship on a neutral field to win the B1G in which Iowa at least will have half the crowd behind them.

That mindset sounds familiar...does anyone know of any Nebraska fans that could help explain to me why that sounds so familiar? I've heard they're great with reliving history.

I'm still a fail.

Don't be so hard on yourself.
You click on every thread I post
You hang on every word I type.
That's not a fail. That's appreciating greatness.

Knocking up your cousin and then paying 18 years of child support is a fail.

Rewording quotes, resorting to washed up incest jokes that take no skill, have some fucking pride in your work. You get worse at this every time. Jesus, you’re just horrible at it. Is your next one going to be, “I’m rubber, you’re glue?”

Your posts are cringier than being sober at a stand up open mic night.

And for the love of Pete, would you please provide some input on the question I asked you here? I’m dying to have some knowledge brought forth.

ESPN weighs in. No mention of Purdue winning the West. Wise move.

3. Iowa wins the West: You could honestly pick one of four teams -- Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska or Northwestern -- to win the ultra-balanced division and have a fighting chance to be correct at season's end. But this season feels like Iowa's time, with senior quarterback Nate Stanley and two of the league's best players -- defensive end A.J. Epenesa and offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs -- returning. The Hawkeyes play at Michigan, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Nebraska, so they'll have to be road warriors to get it done.

2. Iowa State's Matt Campbell will be the hottest name in the coaching carousel: Under Campbell, the Cyclones have won eight games in back-to-back seasons, and they'll finish one better during the regular season in 2019. Campbell, 39, signed a six-year contract extension in 2017, which pays him about $3.5 million annually. He'll be the target of Big Ten and SEC schools this coming offseason, and they won't blink at paying his $6 million buyout.
