Lin-sanity continues

Oh, Lin's won a bunch. I forgot that. The Nuggets made it to the the conference finals as a 6th seed with Carmelo. The Knicks aren't making it to any conference finals period, especially if they trade him. Trading a top 5 NBA player to build around an undrafted player who has gotten hot for a few games would totally be Knicks like though and hilarious.
If Carmelo is a top five player, which he isn't, then there's no reason that Nuggets team should have been a six seed. When LeBron left Cleveland their win total declined by almost 40, when Wade was hurt for almost an entire year, Miami won less than 20 games, when Melo was traded from Denver, the Nuggets got better. That shouldn't happen if he's really a top five player. Which one of these guys is Melo better than: LeBron, Wade, Howard, Durant and Rose?

Kobe :D

LeBron
Kobe
Wade
Durant
Howard

Are the only guys I saw with certainty are better than Carmelo. Every other player in the league I could make a case that he is flat out better than, or make a case for reasons as to why I'd take him over them. That said, there are a handful of players that aren't those listed that I would likely take over Anthony but I'm not completely sure if they are better than him or not.

So, I suppose I was incorrect in saying top 5.

If you must know I'd say it's a tossup as to who's better between players like Dirk, CP3, Rose and Anthony. There may be someone I missed out on.

woops.. I meant Kobe is better than all of them, but I would say Melo is more of a pure scorer than Wade.

Wade can drive and draw contact probably better than anyone in the league, but his outside game is not considered to be as good as Carmelo's.

I don't like Wade all that much, but I would say he is still better than Melo right now... But he is on a stacked team.

Melo is top 10 or 15 material, but not top 5. But you still build around melo. You do not build around Lin. That would be like building around Rubio instead of building around Kevin Love, IMO.

Yeah, I forgot to mention Love. That guy keeps going at this years pace he may be an all time great.

Carmelo has more assists per game this year than he has in his career so I'm not sure I even buy the cancer bit at this point (at least as it relates to the Knicks. I'd need more evidence to support it at the very least.) I'm more likely to buy that he has struggled with his shot a bit though there have been numerous players who have struggled this year and that can easily be attributed to the lockout.

He held an entire ******* team (a team that did everything they could to build around him) hostage for half a season because he wanted to be on Broadway. What more do you need to see.

Oh, plus his stats were pretty much the same with the Nuggets last year so there is no evidence that his attitude hurt his performance. It's possible that it didn't effect him personally on a professional level but it did effect his teammates indicating professionalism on their behalf.

I mean, he had the most rebounds per game of his career, usually considered a hustle stat that part of the season so, it's hard to say that he quit.

The only thing melo cared about his last year in Denver was going to the Knicks. He didn't quit, he quit bring a good teamate.

Yeah. He is averaging 25.5ppg and 14.3rpg and is shooting over 45% FGs and 35% from behind the arc.

It is kind of strange that he doesn't get more love from the national media.

Blake Griffin is starting over K. Love in the all-star game and he has worse stats than K. Love. Just another reason I can't stand ESPN. It is almost a guarantee that you see a Blake Griffin dunk on SportsCenter. I have yet to see an episode without at least one... and that is all he really does. He is no where near as skilled as Love. He can jump high and dunk the ball... but you would think that he is the best PF in the league after watching ESPN.

I actually loved when Collin Cowherd said something along the lines of: "That is all he can do. He can jump high and he can dunk," because that is what a lot of T-Wolves fans are thinking. He is athletic, but is nowhere near as skilled as other PFs in the league.

Sorry for being off-topic.

Anyway...

I still think Melo gives the Knicks a better chance of winning. He may have an attitude, but you can find guys with attitudes on probably every team in the NBA... some are worse. Just the other day they were talking about how multiple stars are letting their team's down by sitting out every time they get a hangnail. For me, a guy who is clearly a huge asset to the team that sits out every time they are sore or have a bruise... is just as destructive...*cough* Joe Mauer *cough*

You got guys like Kobe and Loul Deng that play with torn ligaments in their wrists and Jordan who would play on crutches if he could...Then you have other guys that don't play because their back hurts and such.

You find all different types of bad attitudes in the NBA and I am not convinced that Melo's attitude is enough to just give up on him and say "we are going to start building around Lin and trade Melo."

I think you just have to give Melo a chance to find himself in this offense with Lin out there... because if they could all find a role that they are happy with... they will be a very tough team to beat.

Kobe's not top 5 anymore. He's probably in the top 10 still but not top 5.

I would have to disagree and I'm trying not to be biased, because I am a fan of Kobe.

He is the league leader in scoring.
30th in APG... as the league leader in scoring and a shooting guard.
He has one of the highest efficiency ratings in the league.
He made 1st All-Defensive team like 7 out of the past 8 years or something like that.
And he wins games (with Derek Fisher and Steve Blake as his PGs) and makes big/difficult/clutch shots as well, if not better and more consistently than anyone in the league.

I can't really think of 5 people that I would take over Kobe.

It is your opinion and that is fine, but out of curiosity which 5 guys you would say are better than Kobe?

Kobe is still one of the top 5 players in the game. I would only take a handful of players over Kobe and most due to their age.

Just got the new Sports Illustrated and Lin gets SECOND COVER IN A ROW!! That is just wrong.

It has already gone to far, but the overly PC BS continues even further...

New York Knicks' Jeremy Lin -- Ben & Jerry's apologizes for 'Lin-Sanity' flavor - ESPN New York

Ben & Jerry's, the iconic ice cream brand famous for flavors borrowed from a broad swath of the culinary spectrum, has apologized for including fortune cookies in its "Taste the Lin-Sanity" frozen yogurt sold at a Harvard Square location in Boston.

When it comes to the Knicks' newest sensation, ESPN New York is all-Lin.
Lin: Game By Game Latest

The Vermont-founded company has replaced the fortune cookies in its honey-swirl, Jeremy Lin-inspired variety with waffle cones.

"We offer a heartfelt apology if anyone was offended by our handmade Lin-Sanity flavor," Ben & Jerry's said in a statement.

Is this really offensive? Is it offensive that Ben and Jerry realize that he is asian so use an "asian" ingredient? I simply do not get it.

Lin-sanity will not go away for a while. Chinese love rooting for their own kind, I don't blame them, he draws a number of them wherever he goes. During the Bulls pregame when they played the knicks there were a bunch of chinese lined up to get in at Chicago. Just like when Yao Ming played. Next year they will stuff the ballots to get him into the All Star game.
