Per a very respected poster on the rivals insider board.

"I just got word that Lick is out as coach and has been fired. This comes first hand... I will never post here again if I'm wrong. This is real, this not fake. Lick is out as coach."

Wow! There are probably 2-3 people that post over there that I would come over here to post this for. He is one of them. This is a VERY bold statement by him.
 
The guy could turn out to be wrong. All I'm saying is that I know for a fact that he does have VERY strong connections and for him to go that far would surprise me if he is wrong. Time will tell.
 
The guy who posted that IS a very well respected poster who has been spot on in the past.

I would take this for more then a grain of salt.

Heard the same thing at dinner, last night. This guy is well up the food chain.
 
Few straglers, but a few more well respected posters now coming out saying they had heard the same but were kind of waiting for someone else to break it.
 
I have heard rumors too. I'm not saying my source is anything concrete, he has just heard from someone else as well. There is something flying around.

I just find it weird that they say he is for sure fired. If the rumors are flying around and are true then wouldn't Todd know too? Kind of weird for him to be told he is fired before a Big Ten Tourney game. What if (don't laugh or chastise) they win the tourney?
 
I have heard the same thing from a couple of different people that sometimes are right and sometimes wrong with there inside info. I don't think it happens but guess we will all have to wait and see.
 
If this is all true, my level of respect for Barta definitely just took a huge leap. Tough to admit a mistake after 3 years even if you do have donors and fans breathing down your neck.
 
Oh and just for clarification regarding this poster. One of the first things that come to mind is from last year. He knew well before it was reported exactly who was transferring. He didn't name one person that didn't transfer, and didn't miss one person who did. Just a lil' background FWIW.
 
Wow. I am hearing more and more about this today, and there is plenty of smoke here, and there usually is fire wherever there is smoke. Now we are seeing more reliable sources saying things like this.. Very interesting. I assume nothing until something official comes out, but this seems like more than just someone stirring up crap.

If true.. I wonder if Barta has already been talking with another coach about taking over? I sure would hope so, and I still would pray for Bruce Pearl.
