Lick fired?

I was going to say the same thing, I would be in a very good mood today if I knew I had $2.4 million coming my way to sit on my *** and do nothing.

Maybe deep down Lick knew it wasn't going to work at Iowa, but he didn't want to resign. With his health scare earlier this season and the stress of the situation he is happy that it is going to be over.

And the 2.4 million (which he won't have gotten if he quit) doesn't hurt either

Then it's official. Lickliter has been fired as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at the University of Iowa. : )

I know it would be a done deal if the father's cousin's friend former roommate was also a big donor to the university. So I guess I will reserve judgement.

For those who are familiar with posters on the other board. "Boilers" is now saying the same thing. I'm at the point now that I will be pretty shocked if this isn't true.

Would it be unpresidented if player on the team went to Barta or some other advocate and said if Lick stays I am done?

Not a year from now, either. If/when Barta has to fire Lickliter, he'll be allowed to hire a new coach. He is in no danger of losing his job.

What has he done to make his bosses feel like he should be fired? Lickliter hasn't worked out so far, but that's how it goes sometimes.

How many football coaches did Bump Elliott hire? Of course Barta is not on the hot seat over 1 hiring.

To answer my own question, Fry was Elliott's 3rd hire, and he was quoted as saying that Fry was going to be his last as well as he knew he wouldn't get another opportunity.

BTW The longer this goes without some sort of official statement the more likely it is true....

Like I said right now he has no heat. But if he waits until next year, and Iowa has a similar year he,s going to get this ultimatum: Either you fire him, or we'll fire you...and then fire him.

It's not the mistake of hiring Lick that will get Barta fired. It's not doing anything about it that might. I doubt Lick gets another year. I really doubt he gets two years so I don't think it will be an issue anyway.

Regardless of it's validity, I wouldn't expect to hear anything official until after the game at the earliest.

I was a little leery earlier today but I am starting to think this is true. A few solid posters on the other site are very confident it's going to be a done deal.
