Let's be honest!

Agreed on Larry, he is awful, he booted Fran last year and the next night T'd up John Belien, I thought JB was gonna get tossed. That ref should not be an official, has anyone ever seen him call a consistent game?
The scary thing is that Larry Scirotto's full-time job is a police officer. How do ya think he uses his Napoleon Complex on the public?

Don't want to be a Debbie downer but it will be interesting to see if Iowa keeps getting the foul calls once league play begins and the middle school refs are in action. If they do this team can go places. If it's the usual no calls in the paint and stupid ticky tac stuff on the outside called all day I dunno.
Must have missed the first half of the Oregon game when half of Iowa’s team had two fouls.

Also, both nights were B1G crews, so things aren’t going to change much.

At home you’ll get calls, on road you won’t - just have to be tougher than the homing you will get.

Best way to insulate any team from incompetent or grudge officials is to get a lead and press the lead. Close games are a death warrant.

the switch needs to be made to start connor and have jbo move to sg and start there. the offense is much smoother with connor running the point. connor can actually bring the ball up court by himself and doesn't get trapped in the front court because he can't dribble. folks, jbo simply cannot dribble drive past any defenders; whereas, connor can. ain't saying connor is cat quick, but he as the ability to use the dribble to set up a move to get by his defender.

I like Connor coming off the bench personally. I think as long as Connor is getting 25-30 MPG that is what is really important. I don't think Connor is a better ball handler than JBo, but what he does have is size. He uses his size and strength advantage over the opponents very well.

Connor has cut into Moss minutes. Moss is down from 24 to 16 minutes per game, last season to this season.

He hired a defensive specialist in the offseason, didn't he?

I think they did, but I don't recall who it was they brought in?

Fran's need to worry more about keeping them playing with a high intensity on the defensive end. Fran will pull kids for putting up bad shots, or having horrible turnovers. He never pulls a kid for the lack of defensive effort on a play. That needs to change, so he can keep the players accountable and let them know that defense is a top priority.

The one thing I'm still concerned about is the number of turnovers. It'll be higher just based on our style of play, but we better get a better grip on it or it's gonna bite us in the ass and ruin our undefeated season.

UMKC= 16 TOs
Green Bay= 17 TOs
Oregon= 15 TOs
UConn= 18 TOs

I like Moss starting cause he does have that capability of coming in red hot and you can overwhelm a team from the tip with his streaky shooting. If Fran can have a quick enough hook for him if he’s not hitting I think that could be a good role for him.

Fran should put that guy on his permanent staff.

The foul calls will be what they are going to be. Can't control that. My fear is that this team won't have the will to continue to play defense like they did in NY. It's easy for players to slide back into doing what's comfortable. I hope the team leaders and the coaches continue to hold them accountable to do the right things on the court. Time will tell.

The good thing is there is overwhelming evidence that the extra effort on defense is working. If it was a case where it was only helping a little, it would be more likely they would fall back to old routines. Cook looked like he was on a mission last night.

I think Franny Mac's kid might have been the missing link. He's better and more versatile at point than Bohannon, who's really a shooting guard.
What this team has needed (offensively) since Bohannon set foot on campus was a point guard.

Only if Tom Izzo says so.

In the Oregon game, isn’t the short-hispanic gene- statutore-wanna-be a Big10 ref? That guy loves him some limelight. And he’s not good.

Who was that dude. I have a feeling he was in ESPN's payoff scheme to put the ranked team in the championship for ratings. He made some foul calls that were awful...several of them.

I would think a police officer would make the worst kind of referee. Cops don't typically respond well when having their authority challenged.

Defense is all about effort and mental toughness.

If Bohannon starts shooting good again (which I assume will happen) and Wieskamp becomes a big contributor (which I also assume will happen) that's going to be an incredible starting 5 come big 10 play with Cook, Garza, and Connor.
I think the fifth starting spot is completed wide open. It will be fun to see who wants it the most. Moss is not off to a good start. Too bad Wisecamp isn't either, but I think they really push each other this year.

Ok we start Moss for 30 games so he can have that1 or 2 great offensive games, which we probably lose from poor defense
