Leaving before the HWT's

This is something that I found really sad, and quite disrespectful last night. Before Teleford's match, THOUSANDS of fans were getting up and leaving, as his music was playing.

I get that we were out of it as a team by then, but those that left missed a pretty good match.


I just found it sad, is all.

I agree. Unfortunately I was one of those that left about that time. I think it was the perceived lack of traditional Hawkeye wrestling approach. Seems we had no fight in us at all. Understand they were the stronger team, but if I had seen good effort I'd of stayed till the end. I'm guessing Brands had a "discussion" about this with the guys after the meet.
 
I think the message was, "well we can leave now and beat the traffic, or we can stay here and beat our meat." The dual was decided. Why so butthurt?
 
Until we solve 149, every meet should start at 157 so no one ever feels bad about leaving.

Bad weather, late start, terrible performance, boring style by most hawkeye wrestlers, etc... no one should feel bad about leaving early last night either.
 
Even though we gave a lack luster performance, I believe all the weight classes deserve to wrestle in front of the entire crowd. To me it shows poor support for the team when people leave as early as people were leaving last night. I for one wrote on what I thought was a **** poor effort on another thread, but I for one stayed to give Telford my support as he is part of the wrestling team that we hold #1 in our house. Not to mention it gives PSU one more thing to talk about how they made our house empty before all was over.
 
I have issue with people having ISSUES with how people choose to SPEND there time.


As for the match I give them credit for staying that long, that was a very lackluster performance by Iowa. Pretty sad.........
 
Why should someone stay and watch Telford wrestle if they're not enjoying themselves? What Iowa put on the mat yesterday wasn't entertaining and I can't blame people for leaving and beating traffic.

yeah i do. Stay to the end and support your team! I had the privlage of attending the insight bowl. Yeah i wanted to leave in the 4 th quarter but i didnt. I stayed til the end and saw a awesome win.

When things arent going your way you give up? IF Jeva and Mike Kelly both won by dec Iowa wouldave won. Do you understand that? Give credit to a powerhouse PSU. Iowa failed in a lot of ways but never ever throw the towel in. What did Bob Telford do to deserve you walking out on him? A returning all american returning from a an injury needs all the support he can get.

Shame on you for being fair weather fans. Get tough when the tough gets going.
 
I for one stayed I am asking you if you attended the actual dual or are saying this from the comfort of your own home. The weather was crap and after getting home at 12:45 I was wishing I left early. My guess is the ppl that left early traveled a LONG ways to get there and were worried about their driving. If you were at the dual you'd see that most of the ppl that got up stood at the top of carver and watched it.
 
Understand where you are coming from but I think you are being harder on some of the fans than you should be turkey
 
Yes sir i drove down from Cedar Rapids by myself to watch it. And i stayed til the end. Quit questioning me sir. I got tickets at the last minute and sat in section JJ row 42 Mr.

Thats right at the top. Not a bad seat in the house. Thank god Bob got that reversal in the 3 rd. I think people would'ave been swinging punches at each other if he didnt.

I love this reaction as well. Cyclone fans pull this same crap. If we are getting pounded in football which isnt an un common thing I will leave and go have fun in the lots or go home if its cold. Its my money and my time I will leave when I choose.
 
Yep you are called fair weather fans. Only stay when its warm or when your team is winning. Yes sir you can spend your time however you want. No doubt about it... America!

Ironside nailed it on the radio, saying that that performance is going to make it tough to fill the seats for the rest of the year. People aren't going to be excited to come back. Aside from a couple guys, that was a crap performance by this team. The lack of shots, the lack of aggressiveness... It was a sad display. I'm a HUGE Hawkeye fan, but that was one of the worst overall performances I've seen.

With that said, the Midlands can't get here soon enough. This tournament will tell us a lot about the character and mindset of this team.

As much as I hate to, you gotta give credit to PSU. They won all the toss up matches and turned Carver into a library. I've never seen Carver that quiet...it was eerie.
