The one the was constantly causing waves at practice, or the one the was great on the field...
The one that plays it cool and classy or the one that does blow, weed and has a dealer for a roomate...
The one that feeds the media on this story...or the one that then publicly tweets things to the contrary to cover his azz.
The one that speaks respectfully of his former coach when he needs to ...or the one who winks and makes subtle jabs at things in post-game interviews
It couldn't be more obvious why Ferentz (who I'm not shy about criticizing) had problems with him. He's like a bad case of herpes...just keeps on coming back to irritate you and won't go away.
If the kid thinks he's too clever for everybody...he's got a harsh reality in front of him. You'd think the fact that he's not on an NFL roster would have opened his eyes to that.

How in the world is KF to blame for DJK not being in the league? DJK has one person to blame for that....maybe two people if you want to blame his drug dealer/roommate

I was talking about the entire situation Bus. Not about the NFL. I think Ferentz could have handled things differently as well(regarding his relationship with DJK).
Tell me this if you were calling the shots for an nfl team would you have dane sazenbacher or however you spell his name returning kicks and catching passes for you or DJK? I saw that he is with the Bears and that blows my mind. If you take out all the off the field stuff and just look at on the field careers and what they offer on it you have to admit there are players getting chances that aren't as good as him. Soo there is where the doubt creaps in. I have no clue to what degree college coaches are asked about prospects. Or to what degree their answers would even matter. Bottom line is DJK on the field had potential. The pot deal with Ballard sure didn't hurt his nfl career. And he was dumb enough to fail a test at the combine. (that's about the dumbest thing a kid could do) 72 of 85 sr starters have been given at least a free agent spot in an NFL camp. But not DJK.

I'm a DJK fan. One of the best WRs ever at Iowa. I've supported him in the past and will continue to support him.

Honestly, I might take Sanzenbacher even if I am ignoring the off the field stuff. That dude was really good, and also not drafted btw, just invited to camp as an UFA.

No doubt. What reasons would lead anyone to take Derrell over Sanzenbacher? I realize he probably had better career numbers than the OSU kid but it wasn't like Derrell had the quality of WRs around him that Sanzenbacher had to compete for receptions against. Also I believe they mentioned in the game last night that Sanzenbacher was the fastest guy on his pro team where as DJK wasn't even the fastest on his college team.
Sorry, I like Sazenbacher,and am a big Bears fan but Angelo is flat stupid for not at least signing DJK to a free agent tryout. Let them compete in camp. I think both belong in the NFL,but give me DJK over Sazenbacher. More of a playmaker. Returned kicks for TDs. Both guys had great college careers but DJK is more of an NFL style athlete. Stronger, more physical,and very clutch.

You need to take off you hawkeye colored glasses man. Thess NFL GM's know what they are doing. There is something they dont like about him and that is why he is not there. It has nothing to do with Kirk and most likely nothing to do with the drugs seeing how alot of players in the League do or have done drugs. DJK must just rub them all the wrong way with his attitude.

If a GM asked you about a player you continually had discipline issues / team issues with throughout his career, and then at the end of his career embarrassed himself and the program...would anyone expect that coach not to be honest about the experience?
I'm actually disappointed in KF that he didn't come clean and say, I told people the truth if they asked me. If they didn't ask me, I didn't offer.
What did DJK expect? He built his house...burned his bridges...now he needs to figure out a way out of it and get his shot through hard work and persistence. I hope he gets it done and stops the finger pointing.

This. It's just plain ignorant to try to hang any of this on KF. DJK often played outside the lines of the boundaries of the Iowa football program and now he's paying the consequences.
If Derrell had a lick of sense he would have realized Kirk Ferentz could have helped punch his ticket to a pretty good paycheck in the NFL. He blew his opportunity big time.
