Lachance to Vanderbilt....

Is it to late to offer Wyatt Lohaus or is he already signed to play for UNI? I was kind of surprised when Fran did not go after either legacy Hawks that went to IC West (the other was Jeremy Morgan).

Jeebus, you guys need to take a freakin' chill pill. It's not the end of the world. Yes, this class is weak, but you do know that Fran is allowed to sign a class next year, right? He's also a good developer of talent. Just have some faith and quit freaking out. My gawd.

Edit: Btw, can you tell me what good constantly ******** and whining about it like spoiled little school girls is going to do? Fran and his staff are out on the recruiting trail hitting it as hard as they can. What else do you want? Would you like to have Todd Lickliter back? His recruiting classes were stellar.

You can not and i repeat CAN NOT have a crap recruitng class like this in BBALL where you have very limit Scholy and expect to be worth a crap just can't do that in bball you can't hide role players and think you are going to be top of the BIG...if Fran strikes out for this class like it highly looking like he will that is not a good thing at alll and you say just relax and next class will be better...doubt it.

It's easy to fill out a class later on in basketball thanks to jucos and D-1 transfers. This isn't football, you can easily pick up one or two transfers down the road to even a class out and turn a weak class into an average or better class.

Lohaus isn't signed, but he's not the type of player you offer if you want to compete in the Big Ten. I'm not sold on Dickerson, but holy cow, Wyatt Lohaus isn't the solution.

And he has a chance to become just as good as the players on that list.

Eh, he has the chance to be as good as Josh O, but he isn't going to be a guy that can create. Even if you like the signing, he isn't that type of player. Watch his video, he has a break away layup that is painful to watch, kid is dribbling the ball up near his nipples.

You specifically asked me where Burke committed to and what he was ranked. I mean really, you ask me two questions about a specific player, then wonder aloud why I'm talking about said player.

Getting on with my point, let me make it even more clear for you; simply identifying talent, without the ability to procure it, IS USELESS.

Good grief, it's like you think you're a stud because you see a few pretty women, simply viewing a few hot chicks doesn't really matter if you can't get her to give you the time of day.

'You want to know how I know Fran is a great recruiter, just look at all these great players on other teams!' Good argument Bud.

It is okay to say 'I don't get it' because you obviously don't. I asked the questions about Burke was because his BEST offer was PENN STATE and Iowa when he committed...within hours he was offered from Iowa after he chose to not go to PSU. He was ranked 142 and became POY, so overlooked a bit maybe?

My whole point has been, to make it clear...Fran can see talent, so if he doesn't get his top targets, but still gets some players he feels are what he can win with. GUESS WHAT, I am fine with that.

Get a clue, Iowa is still Iowa and the perception of the program is still in these kids' and their parents heads because they had been so freaking bad. What is there not to understand? Iowa getting a Top 30 class every year is never going to happen. When Iowa was getting back to back ranked classes, half of them transferred or never made it to campus.

You took Burke after all the players I mentioned and focused only on him, maybe because he is the only one you actually know, true or not? There is no reason to take Burke and run with him because he ended up an elite player? The fact is he was overlooked and Fran wanted him extremely bad tells you Fran gets it. If you really think Iowa should be getting every top player that Fran goes after, then you are well, not living in reality. Trey Burke went to Michigan because of two reasons, his dad and LaVall Jordan, who I wish Fran would have kept on staff.

I have never said Fran is a great recruiter, if I have quote me on it. I said he can spot talent and that is why there is no reason to worry about the direction of the Iowa program under this man. Not sure why you are arguing this point because his results have already been proving themselves.

I get it. You think, because Fran has a good record of offering players that end up being good at other schools, anyone he eventually brings in to Iowa will also be good, because Fran has a good eye for talent.

Your argument is weak, but it's not hard to understand.

On to the Trey Burke thing, which apparently has gotten your balls twisted about, I used him as the example because he was the one guy- you mentioned three- that has actually performed well at the collegiate level. Jones has yet to commit, although it looks like Duke leads, and Eric K. was injured and left blind in one eye.

Fran, even if you don't want to believe it, is not King Midas, a poor 2014 class will mean bad things for the future.

Lohaus is not a high major PG, for sure. i'd rather Fran bank schollies than just give them away to whoever's available.

I wonder if Fran will do that, see if he can snag Uhl and Miller, then take what remains of the scholarships and see if a successful season helps his efforts.

I guess you think the program is headed the wrong way because Fran has signed only one ranked class...the reaults on the floor speak for themselves...if that is weak so be it.

this might be a best case scenario at this point. and really, who knows if there might be a JUCO wing pop up during the spring. i'm actually surprised he hasn't gotten one (or both) of these two already.

I've said nothing of the sort. But a bad 2014 recruiting class will be felt.

You are right now and to say one class 'will be felt' and will really hurt Iowa in basketball is pretty intelligent. One ranked class every three years at Iowa is very good and player development is key from there...you know, what coaches really get paid to do.

But .. .. .. Fran can't develop talent. Just ask White, Olesani, and Marble.

No .. wait ..

Never mind .. ..

GO HAWKS!!!

Reading comprehension. Go back and try again and look for the word "one" But first, put down your TavernHawk membership tankard.

My reading comprehension is just fine, so maybe I need to rephrase so you can understand. What you said is that with every one of those 7 scholarships Fran absolutely must increase the talent level over the person who currently holds the scholly or the Iowa basketball team is going to become irrelevant again. All 7 mind you, if we only bring in more talent for 5 of those schollys it's off the cliff into nothingness.

Oh, and sorry I don't have 8,000 posts like you so I can be a real fan.. Get over yourself.....

While I am disappointed, I will say that all we really need is one guy to pan out in each class. Marble was a 2* plays like a 4*, White was a 2* plays like a 4*, Gesell and Woody were 4*, Jok was a 3* and hoping he performs like a 4*.

So basically if we get a guy in this class (plenty of time yet) that ends up ourperforming his rankings, we will be fine. If we are gonna compete for BIG titles, Fran absolutely needs to start getting his 1st targets though.

Well those mid majors have been kicking high majors butts recently and UNI has done quite well over the past 10 years. I don't want Fran to have to settle for mid major recruits either but Lohaus would not be a bad fall back recruit. I think he flew under the radar a little playing on the same team with Jeremy Morgan.

Are you freaking kidding me? Lohaus would be a terrible fall back recruit. I swear, some people on this board want Iowa to be the least athletic team in the country.

So you have seen him play, he sucks that bad? He must not be that bad of an athlete to get a scholarship to UNI. A school that has been to the NCAA tournament 5 of the past 10 years and won 20 games 8 of the past 10 years. The few times I have seen Lohaus he looked pretty damn good and I expect him to break out this season now that Morgan has moved on.

I hate to break it to you but it is to late in the game to snag 4 and 5 star players right now. Fran is going to have to find some diamonds in the rough in order to keep the talent flowing in. It was just an idea, no need to act like a jerk. I would love it if Iowa was able to sign 4 star players like Gesell and Woodbury every year.
