Kirk Speraw would be a great assistant hire

He is a Hawk having played under Lute Olson. He has extensive experience as a head coach in Division I basketball. He is a native Iowan. And he is out of work after being fired from Central Florida at the end of this season.

He lasted as head coach at CF for 17 years and took them to 4 NCAA tournament appearances. If he has any recruiting ability I would think he would be a great asset to Coach McCaffery.

That would be a homerun asst hire, but would he come back from Florida to be an asst? I realize he is out of a job right now, but seems like a long haul just to be an asst. I would love it, though.

as a sioux city guy the rumor is that he has always wanted to come back to iowa, don't think he hoped it would be as an assistant, though.
