Kicking Game Worries No One Talking About It????

would open tryouts on campus be the worst thing in the world right now? who cares if a guy can't kick more than a 40 yarder as long as he hits with some consistency
Sounds like a good idea to me. Gotta be some intramural kids who are at least as consistent as what we have now.

What makes it worse is after both our guys miss Ball State's kid gets ran out there for a couple 53 yarders. How is it possible that we recruit someone who shanks a 29 yarder that slices like my driver after a 6 pack?

I wasn't at the game today, but was it windier in Iowa City than it was in Des Moines? The kick BSU's kicker missed was moving all over the place. Started out looking like it would miss wide left, then sliced hard and went wide right. A couple of Iowa's kicks looked kind of like that, too.

Not to say our kickers our Nate Kaedingish but Nate's first year wasn't stellar........14 of 22, 4 of 8 from the 30-39 range.

We can only hope its early career butterflies since they are reported doing well in practice.

Worst place kicking so far that I have seen in 47 years of following Iowa football.

Yesterday was very bad but have you forgotten the mid Fry era after Houghtlin left? Kevin Skillet was the PK for about 4 years and would routinely miss extra points. It got so bad in the mid 90s they brought in Zach Bromert who could only kick FGs inside of 35 yards on so. He got the job not because of leg strength but because he could kick the ball high off the spot. Hayden was sick of watching FGs get blocked.

Kicker are and will always be a strange bunch. 80% mental, 20% talent and mechanics. I guarantee both our kickers have the ability to consistently make 35-40 yard field goals...although that has nothing to do if they will. Its mental. Keading and Schlicker to a lesser degree had the confidence and mental part down, even Meyer had it. Its a slippery deal, let's hope they can bounce back.

I was at the game and there was little to no wind the entire game.
