Nope. You move him to receiver and don’t put Cooper or Groeneweg in the game. You move him around on the field, not to the sideline.
sarcasm, my friend. sarcasm.

He did not say Fant is a specialist. He said “more of a specialist”. That is a distinction with a difference. In context, he said Hockenson was more “versatile”In his weekly press conference, Rob reported that KF said Fant is a specialist! What the hell does that mean? Your overall best offensive weapon and athlete is a specialist. I’m sorry, trying to understand this as much as I can, but as a fan I think that’s a giant load of crap.
Rastetter AINEC. He is 3-3 passing in his career and has a 514 passer rating this season.what other skill position player is better than Fant?

Clearly he was being diplomatic about Fant receiving like Tarzan and blocking like Jane.
There is plenty to criticize Ferentz about; no need to lie about it.
* * *
It is coaching malfeasance that Fant only saw 8 snaps the entire second half.
That’s ridiculous.
Even if I give Ferentz the point that Hockenson is the #1 TE because of his “versatility” (blocking), what other skill position player is better than Fant?
Easley? No
I(WR)M? No
I(RB)M? No
Sargent? No
Young? No
Cooper? No
B.Smith? No — and he was out the NW game!
It’s just stupid coaching to not have your “second best” offensive player on the field as many snaps as possible. 8 is not as many snaps as possible.
I don’t care if you have to run twin TEs more or if you want to use trips then put Fant at one of those spots. It is horrible game planning and offensive scheme to not have your playmakers on the field
I think that's true, but what I know is true is that Iowa has never had a specialist go that high in the draft.https://bleacherreport.com/articles...matt-millers-latest-big-board-rankings#slide1
Noah Fant is projected as the #11 overall player. I doubt we've ever had a TE go that high or projected to go that high.
Are you kidding me? He's created a whole new position that no other program has, he's opened doors, not closed them.Ferentz’s handling of Fant is going to cost him recruits. He is literally costing his best player millions of dollars. Unbelievable!
And while you are at it you find a fricking punt returner who is an actual THREAT to a return a punt. This Ferentz ball is just INSANE!!Nope. You move him to receiver and don’t put Cooper or Groeneweg in the game. You move him around on the field, not to the sideline.

"Some media outside of Iowa", meaning Omaha? I am incredulous that an Omaha paper would have something negative to say about Iowa. What's next, the Moline Dispatch doing an investigative piece on IKM being listed as the backup on this week's depth chart.Whatever Kirk is trying to accomplish it is not good for the Iowa program and it hasn't been good for wins in the last 3 games either. Some media outside of Iowa have already begun to question what is going on with Iowa's Fant. We don't need any more bad press beyond what we've shown on the field thus far.

Tight end Noah Fant is the poster prospect for Nebraska’s bizarre in-state recruiting failures before the arrival of Scott Frost. Oddly, the school Fant chose — Iowa — seems to have lost him on its own sideline.

The Fants don't have to say anything about the situation directly they can just copy quotes from the rest of the world to make their point.

All kidding aside, his use of Fant deserves criticism.
Kirk is really making it more convoluted than it has to be. Does Brian think the same way?If they ever lined up fant and Hockenson on the outside at the exact same time opposite sides of the field it would draw the safeties into a cover 2 which would open up running lanes . These coaches are seriously clueless at creating mismatches. Run the damn ball out of the spread and throw the damn ball out of the spread with your best players on the field
