Kenyon Murray on Sports Buddies @ 8:00 Sat.

Not surprising. Wont be the last time something comes over those airwaves that takes shots at me.

Jon,
I don't ever listen to that show, so I don't know their names, but you were bashed pretty good at the beginning. Someone thought they were talking about Rob Howe, and their reply was, "No, that's the one we like."

Rob Howe is on with them and he believes that there are two camps of players on the team, one in Coach's corner and others against the coach. He believes this rift has been there since Lickliter was hired three years ago.

Funny because Gatens appears to be the biggest player against Lickliter, yet Gatens was the one player that could do no wrong under Lick. Kind of like Lickliter was trying to win his affection. I think Lickliter just tried not to **** Gatens off. Any other coach would have yanked a player after some of the shots Matt took this year.

If there is such a rift, then that is about all the reason you need to get rid of the guy.

This isn't the first time I have heard less than sterling comments about Jon. No love lost there.

KCJJ has issues because they think since I work for Clear Channel I carry the torch for them. I don't. I got their call letters wrong a few years back, which must have been a sin. When I moved back to eastern Iowa in 2000, I told a friend that they had a really strong signal and that it would be fun to try and raise money to buy that station and turn it into an all sports format. That idea went about 10 yards.

They also didn't like the comments I wrote a few years back about some guy they had doing wrestling called Bobcat when he called out an Iowa heavyweight wrestler at an event. There was no place for that..they got sideways about it.

They hold grudges. That's fine. Just as long as they are giving out the name of the website accurately.

As my Dad always used to say, "Consider the source." There is a reason no one has ever heard of these guys and why Jon is respected by print and tv media across the state.

Go Hawks!

I spoke too soon. Kenyon believes Iowa should be a "destination" school for top recruits, instead of being the afterthought that they have become over the last few years. Believes top players should have Iowa on their list.

Kenyon would like former players to be a part of the program again. That's a telling statement.

They have done this before and I have called in and set the story straight. Not going to do that with them any more. They are who they are, and folks that have listened to that station long enough know that they are over the top in some ways. They certainly break news, they serve the public interest in the city, and they do things a certain way. Some people enjoy dirty laundry radio. Some don't. They are asuccessful independently run station in a world of corporate ownership, so that says something for them, to be sure.

I know one thing for certain; they appreciate people talking about it

He'd also like to see a former player, as an assistant, on the bench. They could be used as a salesman for the program, like other top programs do. Believes it makes a difference for the players and recruits. Mentioned Jeff Horner in that idea.

I think having former players involved with the program is important, depending on the hire.

There is some risk to the 'we used to do it this way' folks, u just hope those aren't the ones you hire. But having people with the passion thy former hawkeyes have vs ppl that become hawkeyes because the check says Iowa is powerful...as it is for any school

They just mentioned that Eric May had NEVER heard of Jess Settles!?!? Are you freaking kidding me?
