Kentucky's Ahmad Wagner

Or he could have been a significant liability in the run game for Iowa's offense. Even without Fant and Hockenson, I'll take the guys we will have next year over a converted hoops player at TE. A TE who can't run block exceptionally well won't see the field much at Iowa. Maybe this guy can run block, but given that they list him at WR, I doubt he can move 240 pound LBs out of the way on stretch plays to the short side of the field.
Anyone remember when Kent Hill tried out at TE for the football team? His football fling ended almost as soon as it began-he broke his hand in the first practice.

Well whatever it is now, it will just be offensive and have to be changed again soon.

I've always thought the very same thing you mention is so stupid. The word "retarded" actually has a true medical connotation as describes diminished capacity of something. It is a very specific word and was accepted to describe individuals medically. So, it was acceptable back in the day. Then someone thought it sounded too harsh and came up with mentally challenged. Eventually that became too harsh so have to come up with something else. The whole thing is stupid, because it doesn't matter the word, the word will eventually become too harsh and not accepted. What is funny, is that it doesn't have an effect or change the condition, regardless what you call it.

Your example is the best one of all of them, but there are a million of them. A stewardess sounds offensive so let's call them flight attendants. Really? That was the name invented to label a profession. Why doesn't anyone complain that "accountant" is offensive. "Did you call me a waitress you piece of shit? I'm a server!"

Cripple - Handicapped - Physically challenged - Physically disabled - Whatever they are calling it now????

George Carlin says it best ... as usual. Some language in this video. About the 5 minute mark he gets into the words you mentioned.

Good for him. Would of been nice to have him as a tight end this year but don't blame the kid one bit for the change in scenery.

It probably wasn't that he wanted a change of scenery so much as he wanted confidence he could get playing time. Then there is the fact that he probably didn't want to be reminded of not making it in basketball.

I wonder if he had known that Hock and Fant were going to go pro in the first round in 2018...he would have stuck around. Pretty hard to tell that was going to happen...but he may have stayed...he had a year to get ready anyway...even at Kentucky...he played very little last year.

Uh, more like the second set of drills. "First practice" implies he was there for the whole practice!

I was in a PE (tennis) class with him that semester. I swear, every time he was in the "receive" court he'd torque the return out of the court and onto Melrose. One hell of a nice guy, was majoring in Communications at that point. Last I read, he was in law enforcement in Florida (I think South Florida). My girlfriend at the time had a roommate with two little brothers that wanted Hawkeye autographs. I asked if he could give them one, and he pretty much got the whole team to do it.

Nice guy off the court. Mean as hell on it. Kent Hill and Ed Horton made a hell of a couple of tandem enforcers. Gerry Wright, Michael Reaves and Jeff Moe could get mean out there too.

I'll call it early. Wagner is getting drafted. I know he's only caught a handful of passes and the competition level is very low, but those DBs are in solid positions. There's just nothing they are going to do about a 6'7 receiver that's as quick, fast, and strong as he is. And I can't see that changing against any level of competition. There are no 6'7 DBs out there.
