Katte Martin and the W expansion draft

The WNBA will hold their expansion draft for the new Golden State team on December 6. Each team has submitted their list of six protected players, but the lists haven't been made public yet.

There is some discussion as to whether or not Kate Martin will be protected by the Las Vegas Aces and a case is being made she should be.

Megan Gustafson is not projected to be protected, and I could see her being drafted.

I'm going to add a link to this thread where a list of all the projected protected players with a discussion on each team Kate is discussed the Aces section.

I like Kate Martin, but I don't expect her to be protected and I dont expect her to be taken in the expansion draft. There are better players available.

One thing I didn't agree with the Aces' projected list is why would they protect Kiah Stokes. I monitored the Aces box scores somewhat over the past season and Kiah doesn't score much, doesn't get many rebounds. Why protect her?

I believe Kiah has been on numerous WNBA championship teams, been in the league quite a while. Her main role is rebounding and defense and last but not least... a member of the UConn mafia.

Starting to see some Golden State Valkyries depth chart projections and most seem to have Kate Martin as the starting point guard. Long ways to go but still good to see.

Here's one blurb I read just now:

Point Guard: Kate Martin

Fresh off her stint with the Las Vegas Aces, Martin brings championship experience and a relentless work ethic that will anchor the team’s backcourt.

PG?

I like her as a play making wing, but PG seems like a stretch. She could do it when necessary for short stretches at Iowa, but the WNBA is a whole different beast. Clark struggled with ball-handling and adjusting to physicality over the first month of the season, I cannot imagine what a leap it would be for someone who hasn't been a team's primary ball handler since HS.
