Kansas fired Weis; Michigan, you now have an out, if you want it.

Charlie Weis went from Super Bowl winning offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots to
the head coach at Notre Dame, fired and received $19 million to leave.
the head coach at Kansas, fired and received $7 million to leave.

Charlie Weis was a great offensive coordinator, if your quarterback is name Tom Brady.
Doubt will see Weis coaching, again, with $26 million going to his bank account not to coach.

Kansas should try something similar to what KSU did 25 years ago, and hire a good Iowa assistant coach. No, not Greg Davis, I am talking about hiring phil Parker. Why not?

There is still lots of great fruit to pick from the Hayden Fry coaching tree.
Phil is the one assistant Iowa can't lose.

Ed Orgeron used to be an assistant at Tennessee, coached USC/Ole Miss, and is not coaching anywhere now.
He's a solid recruiter and would probably listen to a call from Kansas.

He's as bad as Weis as a head coach.

You really have to wonder about KU's athletic director. Did he really expect that the
Jayhawks were going to beat Texas, last Saturday? He**, Charlie Weis was 2-2 this year
& compared to the Turner Gill years, Charlie had the team competitive.

The only smart thing that might save KU football.........Rehire Mark Mangino.
Kansas football was actually in some Bowl games under Mangino.

I'd rather see them keep the great Hoax, even though it's a long shot. I don't want to see Harbaugh in the B1G.

Yes, his record at Ole Miss wasn't great, but did a good job with USC after Kiffin was fired.

They won't bring back Mangino. Yes, he won an Orange Bowl, and had that offense rolling in 2007, but outside of that was a .500 coach, which come to think of it, would be an improvement.
The Lawrence media and the school didn't want him anymore, even after taking Kansas to 4 bowls in 8 seasons, including an Orange Bowl win.

Honestly, I thought Turner Gill would succeed and he didn't.

KU should for sure hire Mangino back. He was the only coach in my life time that had them compeative.

I think this shows how much the Kansas administration is dedicated to winning. They took a coach who was underachieving and fired him. Iowa fans can only look with jealous eyes at the glory that goes to schools with athletic departments that try so hard to win.

This is great ammunition for the keep KF crowd..It does give one pause. Michigan has screwed up 2 football hires and they have sucked for awhile now. Keep boring KF style football and win 7-8 games a season.. Or gamble on hiring the next Bob Cummings or Hayden Fry.

I think its clear that Kansas has standards and expectations and consequences if those are not met. Unlike a certain Athletic Department in Iowa City where its enough to walk and chew gum on the sideline.

What is a school likes Kansass expectations? They can't keep up with the top level schools in that league. The worst thing that happened to them was when they had a couple really good years there under that Qb that could sling it in that pass happy O Mangino had them in. Having a couple stud skill guys with a good offensive mind can have success. But if the rest of the team isn't so hot its just about impossible to sustain for long. The school tried to sustain it by over paying for Weiss you can't really blame them for trying. What good coach is going to go there if you don't over pay em? (not that Weiss is a good coach) It's either that or get lucky with a new young guy and that's a crap shoot. That said Kansas decided it was time to move on and if it wasn't for the crazy money they were paying Weiss they'd have done it earlier.

Michigan is in a mess... That fan base is about to run out that AD and Hoke both. I doubt they make a move in season now. Unless fans stop coming... I think the media and fans can talk all day long about how mad they are but so long as the money is still coming in Michigan won't make a change till after the year. I doubt getting rid of him now would turn the year around for them. So they may as well just ride it out. Now that said if the big house isn't full their next home game....

Does Jim Harbaugh really strike you as the kind of person who'd have the patience to fly around and try to convince 16 year olds to come to Michigan?
