Hearing this second hand but he said that it is down to Iowa and the two Oklahoma schools for Cezar. Kansas is backing off.

Said he thinks we will get both Cezar and Hubbard.

I think for Cezar it does come down to Iowa and OSU. Sounds like OU's coach is on the way out the door.

There is a bunch of people unsure of Hubbard but if he comes in and has a good career and doesnt slip up he could be a great success story.

I would love to get Hubbard. 25 years old is a mature man. Plus he has faced much adversity in his life and came out the other side. he could be a very tough player for us. Plus he's a prolific scorer.

I'm not sure of OSU's point guard situation but it looks like they've got a junior and sophomore with significant contributions.

I guess Iowa has a junior or sophomore but whether you like it or not Cully will never be anything but a backup barring injury or defections. It's Cezar's job for three years if he wants it.

I would love both but I really think we need another big man...

I do agree but maybe Iowa isn't sitting well with any big men that Iowa is looking at right now so they are looking for the best talent instead of a role player for the last two this year.

Also, as much as a big man is needed, a scorer is as well and from what I've read Hubbard can fill that void.

If Iowa does land these two guys I think it would be huge.

Question: Can White play in the post at all? I have yet to see any video of him. At 6'8'' I would imagine can can so I don't think Iowa will be any worse off next year as far as big men go.

We'd have have three true posts in Archie, Brommer, and Basabe. Then we'd have White and McCabe who can both play at the four position. Not ideal, but doable. If we could get 15-18 minutes of quality defensive/rebounding/putback minutes from Brommer and Archie a piece we'd be fine.

2012 would look pretty bad, however.

If we don't get a big man this year we are going to be very thin in that area come 2012. Brommer and Archie graduate, which leave us with Basabe as our only true post player. McCabe and White could play post but we wouldn't have any true centers. On offense I think we would be fine but it could definitely hurt us on defense. True freshmen centers are hard to find. We would definitely have to pick up a JC center in the next recruiting class if we get Cezar and Hubbard.

Next year Gatens, Cartwright, Brommer and Archie are done so maybe Fran looks for a juco big man and a frosh big man in '12. Or maybe there's a third schollie opening up this year.

It also looks like Hubbard plays bigger than 6'5". He averages 10 boards/game.

My hope would be:

C - Adam Woodbury
C/F - Junior College Transfer
SF/SG - freshmen
PG/SG - freshmen

White might be able to score in the post in some situations, but he would get moved right out on D. His contribution down low on D will be another set of long arms, but he does not have the body to hold position. Really does look like a tall three to Basabe's shorter 4. This can be good on D.

Besides Sullinger in the conference who has a legit C anyway? Minnesota's centers are more defensive thatn anything, other than that nobody is legit on both sides of the floor.

You need to rebound. Size generally helps. The only way this current team beats teams is by getting offensive rebounds and securing the defensive boards. That's why we could beat teams like MSU, Ind, and even PU. They are small inside and we could get enough extra possessions to win.

You don't necessarily need to be towering to be a good rebounding team, but we can't go so small or slight that we let teams beat on us the boards.
