Yes that is true. I'm just not convinced that it would have been enough to open the game up. Fitzgerald once again bet the farm that Iowa was too gutless to test single corner coverage downfield. They took away our confidence in the passing game by destroying our offensive line and getting pressure with the front 4. I just don't see how a downfield weapon helps that. I'm not sure we would have completed any passes to Julio Jones if we had him. We simply can't seem to find a way to throw the ball downfield against a stacked box. Many of our opponents have been timid to stack the box against us this year, but not Northwestern. Low and behold it's our worst B1G game of the season.
