Just stop

With the negativity.
Has everything been perfect? No
Have we had some bad bounces? Yes
Well that's life.
It is absolutely pathetic to come on here and see a bunch of grown "men" who seem to have little knowledge about life, and even less about football.
Let me tell you something you already know...........

Yet you're on here. Get a clue.

So the first time my wife told this story I laughed. The second I realized I should probably change how I am as a fan. My wife tells the story that she used to like Iowa State (she went to and graduated from isu). But after the first couple years of our marriage she realized she should be rooting for Iowa. She was asked why, and said cause if the hawks lose I get so upset that nobody in the house can have a good day the rest of the day, cause I can't be happy so I didn't let anyone else be happy. Now I ain't out there beating my wife and kids or anything but my personality was definitely different after a hawks win or loss. I'm thankful to God for helping me gain perspective and the ability to enjoy the ride without changing my character.
My take on the message boards is this. I tune in to see what points people make after a win or loss but when it starts getting to melt down mode I hop off the boards and go do something else. Melt down mode to me, and when I think the posters criticism is legit is when people start saying things that make no intelligent, semi-rational (Semi cause I ain't looking for rationality on a message board) sense, like coaches don't want to win. That's a stupid statement, it just is. It may appear that way by a play call they went with to you, but in every case coaches are doing what they think, rightly/wrongly in your mind, will help their team win. Trashing kids like Shaun Beyer who made a mistake, going on their twitter feeds telling them they should quit football, getting on here and saying they should quit football and stuff like that, is awful. That's the type of meltdown that takes you from being a venting fan to being a jerk whose outta control.
And if you can't enjoy us scoring 50+ points on Ohio state, and thrashing them on national tv at night, and you have a single complaint after that kinda game, then the posters right, you should probably find something else to do, cause you need help. Here's the test, ready, you may need to stop being a fan for awhile and quit watching football if you can't enjoy Iowa killing Ohio State for whatever reason. If the first thing you do after we kill Ohio state or beat Michigan on a field goal at the buzzer, is hop on a message board and complain about coaches, you should quit. Thats kinda where I land on all this now anyway. I dont' know.

.

Yes, I agree you dont go directly at a player and say stuff like they should quit. It is one thing to point out a running back isnt consistently hitting the open hole, or a receiver is dropping too many passes, but lets not get pointedly personal at the players.

The coaches make so much money they should be able to take the heat. I doubt the coaches read these threads but I know they have answered letters from a few people I know.

Hey guys, going for 2 in the 3rd quarter and winding up off cycle is just a bad bounce so everyone needs to cool it!

I know that sniffing Saben's crimson panty liner will have you believing that coaches don't make mistakes, but they do. It wasn't an insurmountable mistake. Both the coaches and players had plenty of time to redeem themselves. They collectively fell short. Just as they collectively fell short of converting the 2pt tries.

Damnit why do I have to keep defending coaches that I am pissed at from slander?

Well played sir well played!! Its a beautiful thing when someone who you are not sure is an idiot and then they open their mouth and remove ALL doubt!

It's quite simple Adam...just say no to the kool aid bro!

I don't partake in the flavors of kool aid around here. I won't be drinking any of your special brew either. I have my own opinions. They don't include that Kirk is happy with this season and they don't include nitpicking calls to go for 2. 1 of those is simply insane and the other is hypocrisy. I will stick to being upset about the systemic problems. By that I mean the real problems.

The only lucky bounce NW got to beat us was our coaching staff benching our best receiver. If we had used the same game plan we used against Illinois we beat NW by 3 touchdowns . That is the most frustrating part of this season . The huge what if’s

Can you be certain that we didn't use the same game plan and plays? Could it be possible that NW was able to take some of it away while Illinois wasn't?

You can't be that naive. Btw, Mr Family guy... I think you have a wife. Daughters? Would you say what you said in front of them?

How can they take it away when he was on the sideline? Noah played 33 percent of the offensive plays . It was near 100 percent the first half against Illinois. So yeah I’m certain

It reveals character, no question. When you bash a staff, can't enjoy a Hawkeye win, root for the team to get beat so the staff looks bad or would generally be happy to see the head coach let go, you are rooting for the wrong team. Fran frustrates me to no end on the basketball side but i hope we win a national title. On the football side, i agee, i just leave the boards for a few days because the exact same poor losers are out to bring misery to everyone else. It would be ok if rational thought was employed but.....not likely. It really concerns me to the level of wondering if your families are ok. A few on here have a very unhealthy emotional state. Its sport. Its a game. Act like ladies and gentlemen. Especially toward fellow Hawkeye fans. The people you should embrace. Teammates. Its ridiculous. Back-biting and terrorizing other Hawkeye fans. Trashy.

Mine is rushing that play on the goal line against Purdue. That loss keeps tormenting me over and over.

Pretty much the theme of this season....What If?

Saying "everyone knows and I was screaming at the TV, just run the ball"
Next sentence
" WTH? Why do we run plays that everyone knows we are going to run is stupid. Why can't we think outside the box? What dumbass runs a play everyone knows is coming?"

Umm if everyone knows we should of ran the ball, isn't that contradictory of the second complaint?

"Tj shouldn't come back he will get double teamed"
"Why can't our wr catch and free up others"
" Don't throw it to him, he is slow and can't catch"
"OMG he was wide open, how is our passing game going to get better if we don't pass"

Again the level of stupid is at a fever pitch.
Calm down people.
Be resolved to be a fan and be supportive or be resolved to be a whiner and say things out of frustration that contradict yourself, and that just sounds dumb.

Being 80th in the country on offense for 20 years is stupid.

Being ranked 1 year out of the last ten is stupid.

Not producing a 100 yard rusher in nearly 20 games in a pro-style offense at O-line U is stupid.

Settling for baseline job performance (not having players commit crimes) as an excuse for not doing more is stupid. It's not like Alabama or Notre Dame are made up of thugs. Baylor and MSU are the exception, not the rule. Not being a criminal program is the baseline expectation for a coach, not something to celebrate.

Only competing for one Big Ten title in 15 years is stupid.

Only winning one bowl game in 5 years is stupid.

Only recruiting in the bottom half of the Big Ten is stupid.

It's been a looooooooong period of stupid at Iowa, and not just in football. Only 1 Championship in any sports program in 10 years? That's beyond stupid.

The stupidity is rewarding and celebrating baseline performance (sorry, with Iowa skipping OSU and Mich most years, 8 - 4 should be the floor, not the cieling) as if it was a Big West title.

Iowa plays a soft schedule. Nearly every year. So does everyone else in the West. All the other West teams are down. There are three NFL skill players on the offense, two of which might be pro-bowlers. WE don't use them effectively.

You can't keep pissing on Iowa fans and telling them it's raining. We aren't ignorant. Was e aren't Jihadists. But not all of us are fatalistic weenies who believe in Lil' Ol' Iowa. Iowa makes a top ten revenue in CFB. There's nothing little about it.

We don't. We are a meger 30 million away from a top 10 spot. However we are currently #23, and no we are not producing results equivalent to our revenue. I think we are all pissed about that.

It is your honest opinion that Fant is the sole difference between the Northwestern game and the Illinois game?

Ok. Sorry, we used to be, I think, like in 2004 or something. 2008 we were 16th http://www.espn.com/college-sports/revenue. 18th now according to USA Today. Regardless, the budget is $110,000,000. We could pay Kirk's buyout and a new coach the same money and come out even.
