Just Heard Mitch McGary....

Didn't know about the ADD, missed that. 1st rounder and guaranteed money they gotta be expecting something.

Not in the NBA. There have literally been gobs of players picked in the lottery, hell even 1st overall picks, that are not ready to contribute their first season in the league.

prep school? held back a grade? good question.

McGary is from Chesterton, Ind., but went to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire for 2 years I believe. He would be a sophomore next year if he stays at UM. He was born in June of 1992.

By contrast, Marble, Basabe and McCabe will be seniors next year. McGary is 3 months older than Marble, a few weeks younger than Basabe and about 7 months younger than McCabe. There is a reason he didn't really look like a freshman physically this year; age-wise he was the equivalent of most sophomores-juniors. He's a full 18 months older than Woodbury, for example.

Nothing wrong with any of this. Iowa got Fred Russell (football running back when KF took over) from a prep school and he was older than his classmates.

Actually during the Final Four, Jim Nantz said him not playing much right away was due to the fact he has ADD and it was a matter of him getting acclimated to the college game and lifestyle.

The NBA lifestyle will do wonders for his ADD...

I like the kid. He seems like a nice young man. I think he will return to Michigan, and still be a lottery pick next year. He is gonna be tough to handle next year, unless Michigan falls off the map without an all american pg.

ANother year, he could become a Top 5 pick...or go now Top 15 and not have another year to have holes poked in his game...he's in a real, real 'tough' spot re: decision

How the h@ll is he so old, but only a FR? Devyn Marble is 3 months younger than him.

He has ADHD.
He prepped at Brewster after high school due to academics and having some issues.

Personally, if I'm McGary, I bolt. He's not going to be there all four years, his stock is pretty high right now.

If academics were an issue I would definitely go...would really stink to sit on Michigan's bench and watch due to academics. Also agree with John that his game could be exposed next year without Burke getting all of the attention or delivering the rock.

multiple sights these players as NBA draft projections (and mostly lottery to 1st round)

Michigan
Burke
Robinson
McGary
Hardaway

Indiana
Oli
Zeller

MSU
Gary Harris
Adrian Payne

guaranteed money sure is tempting. who knows what could happen next year. if some team is willing to take a chance, i personally wouldn't take him though.

There is a lot of talk about how weak this draft is. Im not sure what next year looks like but I dont think its a guarantee he would crack the Top 10 next year. Hell, Kentucky will probably have a handful of 1 and dones next year.

It'll be more than a handful. Calipari has assembled quite possibly the greatest recruiting class in college basketball history. Six players of Rivals' top 18, including four of the top 10. They are also still in the running for Andrew Wiggins, the #1 player in the country. If he signs with UK, the Wildcats will have the #1 player at each position in this year's class. That's just unreal.

Yup, pretty much.

If Iowa cant win the whole thing I really want a group of 5 freshmen that start to do it. Would be cool to see and then we wouldnt have to hear about the Fab 5 near as often, IMO.

Even if Kentucky wins it, what the Fab Five did would still be much more impressive. They had to go up against actual quality teams built around talented upperclassmen, not the watered down college basketball of today.

Wonder how much it's costing them. Of course, that's mere supposition, not at all based on Calipari leaving two different programs on probation....

Good point and I didnt say if it happened next year with Kentucky it would be more impressive than the Fab Five.

I just dont think we would hear as much about them if a group of 5 freshmen who started went on to win the NCAA title, essentially "one upping" the Fab Five.
