He plays hard and uses any advantage he can.
That upsets people.
Not true. The Giants hated him. A player called him a cancer publicly before they made it out of training camp in his first season.

Wait, why should a guy who is 3rd in HR's, 4th in RBI's and has a high OBP (which is what is important) not make the All Star team?
Yeah, I liked Gorman Thomas to.
You be the judge! I always loved those hats though.Hawk Harrellson once said on air that Gorman was a member of "the all-ugly team".
Had to apologize for it next day.
Gas, Wimpy.
It's very easy to understand why he isn't on the team if you know the process
1. Fan vote. Fans don't like AJ and voted for Napoli
2. Player vote. Players don't like AJ and voted for Weiters
3. Coach vote. Needed to add a Twin to the team so Mauer gets the nod.
Where his #'s better than those guys? Yes. And it stinks but that's the process

Harrellson made his crack the first time he saw saw Gorman without the beard.
If I recall correctly, Gorman had some...err, bad skin...lurking under his long-time facial hair.
AJ was asked about Washington's comments, and he responded honestly. Thats what fans want, right? He did not go out of his way to whine about being snubbed, which he was. Washington was in a tough position, but he could have taken Zimmerman of Minny instead of Mauer. The fans and players votes were wrong,so Wash takes the heat.
As for this other stuff, it is a bunch of players whining about AJ playing smart and hard. AJ is about the smartest player in MLB. He has great instincts and reacts so well in every situation,he stands out. Taking advantage of every rule instantly is AJ's way, and that makes these other players envious, really. They can only wish they would be as sharp as AJ on the field.
As for Barrett's punch, that was ridiculous. He gets tagged out at homeplate so he gets up and punches the catcher? Now that is a baby. He hit like an infant also,as AJ laughed it off by slapping himself in the face as he walked back to the dugout. It was embarrassing for a grown man like Barrett to act in such a manner, and then not even be able to break a grape on a sucker punch like that...yikes....where is he today, btw? Not in baseball, that is certain, while AJ is putting up all star numbers and looking like he will get another 2-3 year contract at 6 million+.

It's funny that anybody defends Barrett in this. Barrett blocked the plate (which is fine) AJ knocked him on his *** (which is what you're supposed to do in this case). Then Barrett proceeded to sucker-punch AJ (which hardly phased him, if at all), and by the way scott podsednik took barrett down immediately afterward. Sure, AJ invoked the crowd afterward, but how's that compare to sucker-punching a guy in the face? When AJ was suspended the same amount of games as Barrett for this completely baffled me.
Its not funny that anybody defends Barrett. Its all the proof you need that pretty much everybody hates AJ and thinks he is a putz. If the scenario you described is 100% accurate, then everybody should have been on AJ's side, but hardly anybody was. I wonder why.
