Juror in court case

Jane was on KXNO yesterday. She stated that she always told the truth and the coaches testifying for Iowa were all lying. That says it all. She needed to go.

When asked if she would like to come back to her job, she said it would depend on the environment and whether it would be safe or not. However, I wonder if everyone would think that they would be safe if she came back.

Meyer made it sound like she was so calm and objective with her memo about needing to investigate issues in the department. Too bad they didn't ask her about her alleged volatile and belligerent response in a meeting with Barta and others. It would have been interesting to hear her reconcile these two perspectives.

She can buy a lot of safety for $1.4 million - Earplugs, blinders, sound proof insulation for her office walls, to name a few safety devices she could employ to protect her from such a horrible place that paid her over $175K a year.

As George Costanza so aptly put, It's not a lie if you believe it to be true.

Now that is an interesting take. Intentionally lose the case in order to set a precedent. Don't think that is what happened, but functionally, it is what Meyer is trying to make of the case now that the verdict was in her favor.
And the narrative I've seen in a few pieces on it has used adjectives like "historic" and "groundbreaking". Of course there could be another motivation and that is bye-bye Gary and hello "Madam Athletic Director"...

I don't think the references to historic or groundbreaking are being used for Meyer getting her job back, but for the sense that something great is being done for women in sports everywhere.

Not saying she would get her job back, she has been "paid off" but she is "dirty" in this scenario. Iowa has now set the stage for retribution - what better way to prove it is gender neutral than to install a female AD? Think about it, they can now cite Meyer vs The University of Iowa as a reason to go down that road.

That is absolutely not what she said. I would highly recommend listening to that KXNO podcast. You can then form your own opinions about what Meyer said. Warning - it is 43 minutes long.

Listened to it. That's pretty much what she said. She also spoke about following laws and apparently forgot when she broke the law when dealing with the media. Remember what I'm talking about?

I also thought it was weird that she wouldn't actually say she's still a hawkeye fan. Seemed oddly deceptive.

I guess we will disagree about her calling the witnesses liars. I thought it was a little odd about her answer about being a fan. I took it to mean that as she attended and worked at the University that she would be a fan if the atmosphere she talked about changed. She invested a lot of time in that job, good or bad.

She said that Bowlsby was good to work with and the environment was positive then. She indirectly said that the problems she perceives in the department started with Barta. At least that was what I got from it.

i do not remember illegal dealings with the media by anyone so I don't know what you are referring to.

I don't think this verdict will hamper recruiting one bit. Potential players evaluate Ferentz and his staff, not some bureaucrat like Gary Barta. ADs are a dime a dozen

Jane had ZERO people in the men's athletic department that liked her. Most hated her. To fire Gary and hire Jane as AD would be the dumbest thing ever done by the University of Iowa.

Iowa State Graduate. Huge cyclone fan..at least according to their facebook page and spouses facebook page.

I have sat on a jury in the past. I am as big of an Iowa fan as anyone on this board. Actually, I don't know how anyone could be a bigger hawkeye fan. I feel quite confident that I could sit on a case re ISU and be as neutral as anyone that was not a sports fan or Iowa or ISU fan. The fact that all of you seem to think this person couldn't do the same might say something about you, as opposed to the juror in question.

I really don't like the way the juror said they dismissed the coaches' complaints as petty. Facilities are important. And there was testimony of consistent disregard for the coaches' preferences and actual significant mistakes. It may not have been enough to win the case for Barta, but it wasn't petty as she said.

they should have asked her about her statements about Patrick and getting more attention for his cancer than others that had cancer.
