Juror in court case

Give it a rest...you all look so petty. It's like saying the refs caused us to lose the game. If GB would have played the game the right way we wouldn't be having this conversation. Be mad at GB for giving us this black eye, nobody else.

Okay, Jane. Why don't you be done with the internet for today and go strap it on with your equally ugly and witchy girlfriend. Hopefully karma will come back and bite you in the form of your house burning down.

Based on her and her spouses facebook page they look like sports fans. Cubs, Blackhawks and Clowns. Didn't the Jury allegedly be picked from non-sports fans?

Generally, I would have thought that a tailgating sports fan would have been more likely to decide in favor of the university.

Not so sure about that.
1.Tailgating sports fan for which University?
Yes, people could be that petty, even in a court trial. I have no doubt there are clones out there that would welcome a chance to punish IOWA given any opportunity. (Envy of the successful is more in vogue than ever)

2. Do they like the coach?
Let's say for example a guy like Tom Davis sued Iowa ...he was pretty well-liked and I'd imagine a lot of people would have come down on his side.

3. Do they like the AD?
There are plenty of Iowa fans who aren't crazy about Gary Barta (as we know too well being on this board), they may want him to see him gone, or at least embarrassed.

But especially.... #1. The foreperson of the Meyer jury may be a prime example.

The attention is certainly not a good thing but other programs with more notable offenses and ongoing negative stories don't seemed to be that harmed by it.......at least on the athletic side. I don't see daily national press making repeated reference to it. It's ongoing news within the state for the time being but where else? What am I missing? Even ESPN who loves dirty laundry hasn't had much on it.

It makes regular news in the DSM Reg but so do obituaries, mattress sales, and hearing aid offers.

How about the AP?http://www.nydailynews.com/newswire...practices-1-4m-bias-verdict-article-1.3140283

This article from the AP appeared in dozens of newpapers and media outlets, including ESPN, USA TODAY and the New York Times.

Are Iowa's attorneys that stupid not to look at the facebook profiles of the people they are selecting?
You bring up an interesting point that dove tails w/ something that's been churning around in my head for a few days - the U is the most PC place I have ever worked (coming up on 20 years) and I can't imagine for a minute that they actually tried to win this case. Precedence is paramount in our legal system today and what better way to insure politically correct legal outcomes in the future than loose a high profile case like this?

Lots of angles to this story. The whole "Juror is an ISU fan conspiracy" hasn't been touched yet. I'm really interested to see how this plays out.

There were 11 jurors. It was unanimous. Even if this chick was a "HUGE" ISU fan, she's just one of them.

I clicked on her facebook page, it looks like she is more of a fan of eating out.

Certainly, but where are the daily repeated pieces I referred to or is the AP one and done? Has the AP released any f/u's to this article?

I'm not belittling what has ocurrred but simply saying that programs that have seen rapes, robberies, academic fraud, etc. (some on a repeated basis) have seen little come of this even with repeated national news stories on their particular instances. These programs may have made some internal changes but they're still attracting high levels of interest in their athletic programs.

8 Jurors. I think they they started with 11, but 2 were sick and something else might of happened as well. So it was 8 jurors deliberating and they were unanimous.

Now that is an interesting take. Intentionally lose the case in order to set a precedent. Don't think that is what happened, but functionally, it is what Meyer is trying to make of the case now that the verdict was in her favor.
