Josh Oglesby's refusal to take shots confounds McCaffery

I would love to hear exactly what Fran said when he "pointed it out directly after the game".

Not sure whats so confounding about it. He's not a pressure performer and he knows it. I would rather he pass up the shots rather than miss them.

So, look for Oge's at around the 15 minute mark of the 1st at Northwestern, right along with the rest of the buzz-killing 2nd platoon.

Really? So if you were an opposing coach you'd play 3 ft off him at all times and let him shoot cuz you think he'll miss?

They ran a double screen play specifically for him to shoot a 3. He was as open as any player was for a shot all night and he pump faked, and passed it to the top of the key. Immediately after he passed up the shot you could see Jok get up to check in.

I wish Fran would have told him to shoot before the game. He has a poor completion percentage but if he's not a threat to shoot he becomes a liability and gives the defense more options to play.

If I'm Fran, I play him against Northwestern but tell him the first time he passes up a shot, he's on the bench for the rest of the game. And it will be like that the rest of the year, leave it up to him on how he wants to end his career. He's been successful before, he shot 37% from 3 as a freshman and 40% last year, he just needs to stop thinking and shoot the ball.

If he isn't going to shoot he shouldn't be on the court and if he is going to shoot the way he has Fran shouldn't be playing him. So now I have to ask why is Fran playing him!

I'd rather he sit on the far end of the bench the last 7 regular season games. This experiment of JO shooting and making 3 pt. shots is past saving at this point.

I understand how Fran is frustrated but he should have never even let his confidence to get this low and to this point. Sure he's gonna lose some from people like us who complain when he misses but then complain when he doesn't shoot but Fran can't let it get to the point where he's not taking open looks.

What more can he do to get his confidence up? He pumps him up in the media any change he gets, mentions how good of a shooter he is, he's gave him ample playing time, never stopped running plays for him, kept encouraging him to shoot the whole time.

I don't know what Fran can do about it. He tells him to shoot. He won't shoot. It's not like Fran pulls him when he misses.

Okay we don't know if he does or says anything 1 on 1 with him when nobody is around. That's what's gonna matter the most.

He's no Melissa Dixon! That chick can shoot!!

I work on campus & it's a pretty well known fact that he is downtown a lot at night, if you know what I mean.

Time to cut your loses. He'd be playing sparingly if I were Fran. It's too bad it's gone this far.

His minutes have been cut in half the last 2 games he has played. Combine his lack of confidence with Jok's improved play and Clemmons also being a better option and his minutes will likely be cut even further...unless he starts taking the open shot.
