Josh Oglesby

This actually is somewhat funny and the Mark Titus book "Don't Put Me In Coach" looks humorous, worth a read if you are into the locker room side of prep and collegiate hoops.

His blog was some funny stuff when he was playing college ball.
His YouTube vids were the best.

The one that says other than his poor 3 point shooting JO has been doing everything he's supposed to be doing as a role player.

What else is he not doing? Not starting anything just would like your thoughts and perspective on what else JO isn't doing as a role player.

His role is to be a 3 point shooter. He doesn't create, isn't a great rebounder and he's not a lock down defender. Shooting 3's is his role.

Don't get me wrong, I think he'll snap out of his funk eventually (hopefully sooner rather than later) and he needs to keep shooting to do that, but he's been a liability out there in the games I've watched. Granted I haven't watched all of them.

JO has the slowest release of any major college 3 pt specialist Ive ever seen. In addition, ive never seen a supposed 3 pt shooter with as bad a position before and after the shot as him. His shoulders are rarely square to the hoop...his feet are never in good position....and he floats away from the hoop constantly. Contrast that with a guy like Kent Macausland who was the most unathletic player in iowa history, but had a quick release on his shot, was always in a good shooting position, and had the same form on every shot. Thats why hes the leader in all time 3 pt % and in the top 5 all time in 3pt makes.

If the guy cant do what he was given a scholarship for, then find someone else who can.

Saying Josh defends well is no longer a good argument for his playing time. When a guy is out there throwing up brinks lelf and right I really does not matter what else he is doing. Missing all those shots is hurting the team period!

I just mean compared to McCabe, who is pretty much a turd on both ends of the court.

Oglesby is limited. 2 seasons pretty much identifies him. Doesn't make him a bad guy, just limited in what he can do to help this team. I think it's time announcers stop referring to him as Iowa's sharpshooter.

I will now say the most positive thing I can say about Josh right now whilst complying with board rules:

Josh Oglesby is a basketball player who plays basketball for Iowa.
