Jonathon Dwyer comment per espn

I'm guessing your opinion would be a lot different if Iowa had lost the game, and that quote had come from Stanzi or Clayborn.

You're being contrary just for the sake of it, and it couldn't be more obvious.

You seem very threatened by the fact that I am a Cyclone fan. There are others in this thread who also don't find this to be a big deal. But since I am a Cyclone fan I am obviously starting something just for the fun of it. It gets old

The kid had a recorder stuck in his face after a demoralizing loss. I dont think I will hold it against him

Hardly threatened. However, what I do find odd is that you dont post on Cyclone Fanatic, but choose to spend your time here, at a place where you know that your opinion will be viewed skeptically.

It's always interesting to watch the guys on the sidelines in these games, starters, scrubs, equipment managers, whoever, and you can usually tell is who is going to win and who isn't. Last year SC guys were laughing and goofing with each other on their sideline the whole game, last night, lot of the same on GT side. All of that starts at the top and trickles down with how the respective staffs approach the prep work and the whole bowl experience. Iowa was that way in the 03 Orange Bowl, which KF has repeatedly noted, and guess what they haven't been since.

I think Dwyer was more nervous about the interview than he was the game.

This is the "problem" with teams that win with defense.

When a team has a great offense and wins, it's because they are a good team. When a team wins becasue of a stout defense, it's considered to have won because the other team had an "off" night.

We saw it all season long, experts kept saying "Iowa squeaked by".... again, and again, and again.

Defensive minded teams don't get credit for being good teams. Most of the time they are considered "lucky".

KF and Norm Parker are making a living being "lucky" and will continue to laugh all the way to the bank because no one else is any the wiser.

Great point.

I do post on cyclonefanatic. Not under the same name though as my name on CF doesn't have cyclone on it. I didn't want to hide the fact that I was a cyclone fan. Maybe I should have

And while more than 2 people agree with me.....I don't see you responding to them. Why is that?

I think you guys are being a little harsh with the kid. A lot of times when a team loses players can look back at 5-10 plays and wish they had done something different. Some players come out and say that, some don't.

I don't think he made excuses at all. Just said how he felt

Duh? Seriously? That was an EXCUSE. 5-10 plays didn't do them in. The ENTIRE domination by Iowa's Defense did. If you're going to post on a hawkeye board....the least you could do is post something that actually makes sense.

Am I missing something here?

Sore(1) Losers(2)

I thought you were also a Hawkeye fan?
If that's true, you'd know about this... every Hawkeye fan knows this and would get the "three words/two words" reference. Just a thought...

As recently as Monday, I had people here trying to argue that Iowa was the better team in the 2003 OB and probably should have won that game. Just something to keep in mind while we criticize others for refusing to acknowledge the obvious.

Yeah, but he also said this too...

Iowa's defense sinks Georgia Tech in Orange Bowl - CFB News - FOX Sports on MSN

“Their safety ran by me,†Georgia Tech’s top rusher recalled. “There’s no way someone was going to catch me.â€

A chorus of officials’ whistles, though, brought an abrupt halt to Dwyer’s idyllic scenario. Penalty flag. Teammate Joseph Gilbert had jumped the snap count.

“That could have been the tempo setter,†Dwyer lamented. “I wish we could rewind that play. There’s no telling what the outcome might have been.â€

Maybe it was he was just nervous when he was interviewed???

Considering the entire right side of the Tech line (including the center) jumped on that play, it's pretty easy to figure out why the safeties stopped.
