Jon & Steve - Rucker Situation

With the Rucker situation I think we are really missing Jon & Steve's commentary on the radio. If either of you are up for it I would love to hear some commentary or an article on the site.

If Kirk did something like this the media here in Iowa would be kicking his door down. Must be commonplace stuff up in Meeechigan.

You don't know that it isn't up there. Maybe they are.

In my mind "reinstated" does not equal "he's starting on Saturday." The kid has been out for almost a month now, and it's hard to think that he is anywhere playing shape at this point.

If he sees the field at all tomorrow, I'll bet it's only sparingly. Let's not act like the outcome of this game depends on whether or not he plays, or that Dantonio put him back on the roster because they're playing Iowa. None of us were privy to the discussions that took place.

When Dantonio issued the zero tolerance edict last year that was knee jerk and self serving. Statements of absolute usually haunt you.

This week he says that zero tolerance does not mean dismissal.

The fact this was a DUI and probation violation makes it worse because the probation stemmed from the events that led to the zero tolerance edict.

Dantonio said the players wanted him back. That sounds like Greg McDermott talking about reinstating one of his players last year because Brackins came and asked him. Cept Dantonio is 5th in the nation and not fighting for his job

It's a mistake and one Dantonio may regret. But it's Sparty we are talking about. The FB program has hardly been a paragon of virtue through the years

I know when you haven't gone to a BCS equivalent game since 1966 and you are 5th in the country, you want to give your team every chance possible to have a special season.

If Iowa wins and Wiscy wins out, Iowa will jump Sparty in the minds of many BCS bowls simply because of our traveling fanbase.

As big as this game is for KF's legacy at Iowa and the Hawkeyes season, it's even bigger for Sparty. We're trying to not have another disappointing season when expectations are high, but we've been there before. Sparty is just now coming to the party.

That being said, off the field things nearly sunk the ship in Iowa City, and it certainly will for the second biggest football story in that state.

Dantonio had a plenty good chance in Iowa City without Rucker. I think this has negative long term implications for a program that has been anything but a picture of stability in college football.

If he does play I'd target him early. Let's see if he's a little rusty and burn him for one. Yes, he's a good player but lets see if we can take advantage of him being out...if he plays.

Now you know why Michigan hates them so much.

It looks like an "outlaw" program right on the fringe. We'll see what happens.

I'd Love to see us go at him all day and let his frustration of not being in shape pay off with penalty after penalty.

Jon, I agree with you and when I heard the "decision is supported by the Unity Council" talk I immediately thought of ISU.

Unfortunately, we are spending too much time talking about a guy that will barely play, if at all, on Saturday. Then again, what else are we gonna talk about on a Friday afternoon?

Rucker's butt is still sore from his 8 days as a jailbird....he's going to keep slipping on the Prep-H he'll leak all over the field....DJK goes for 200+. BTPOW....count on it.

All programs who waffle on ethical/moral issues usually end up paying for it down the road. Sparty has it coming.

They played in and won the 1988 Rose Bowl, but that doesn't change the point of you post which is probably pretty accurate.
