This is 100% accurate and why I want KF gone. If he worked half as hard at winning titles, as he does at lowering expectations, Iowa would have several . . .

. . . of these (hyperbolic? don't care I'm havin fun) in our trophy case right now. JHF wanted people to expect more, not less.
And Fry won.....how many national titles? He blew the Rose Bowl down his leg 3 times. Fry himself fumbled 4 times against UCLA. Fry himself could stop Washington in the big one. He missed so many tackles. When Jesus, and it looks like you probably have a list of criticisms ready for HIM as well, walks through the door ready to coach the Hawks, i hope for HIS sake he gets that national championship.

That's the only knock on him - he blew big bowl games more often than not, and then his second and third round of assistants weren't as good as his first, so the recruiting dropped off. His first ten years were something else, though.

I would. There's no cavalry coming. We are dancing with the one that brought us. Shane is dead, I love Big Brother, and there's thirty more years of Ferentzian Football Dystopia on the way. You can put lipstick on a pig, but you can't make it look pretty or fly.
If there were an internet Award for best movie/Book references with mixed/multiple metaphor you have my vote!

So if we aren't the #1 Defense in the country, our defense sucks?
You resort to hyperbole...How about striving for being as good a defense as Wisconsin's? You know, everything else aside, the reason why Wisconsin has success and Iowa doesn't. One certainly can't pin Wisconsin's success compared to Iowa's on its offense or recruiting or style of play, for examples.

I also have the urge to be mean but, in a non-trolling kinda way, I'll just say the evidence is overwhelming....

You sure seem to have a lot of hate on HF.

I have been wondering the same thing for years now!!!

Why do you think it is that Wisconsin, a team that recruits at the same level that we do, has had numerous coaching changes, been able to sustain high levels of success (this is their fourth consecutive year of 10 wins) while Iowa flounders and claiming "development"?

I wish we had the #1 offense and defense every year. I guess I just realize that a D that is consistently ranked in the top 30 is better than a O that is consistently ranked in the bottom 30.

Actually, I wonder why it is apparently some sort of unwritten rule with Kirk that you can’t have BOTH a good defense AND offense.

I think we have more than enough evidence to suggest KF doesn’t have good offenses. He has had maybe 1 or 2 actual good offenses in 19 years.

19th year of KF and we're still developmental. Always building for next year. Developmental is an excuse for sucking at the most important thing. Recruiting.

It kinda reminds me of when Glen Mason was coaching at Minnesota. The media here dubbed it “Glen Mason and his forever young Gophers”. Because he was always making excuses about inexperience at key positions.

If Fetentz is going to have preseason developement years he should tell Barta so ticket prices can reflect that.

Didn't you see that massive fail of pass coverage that Rugumba employed in the end zone in the second half? How about the over 100 yards of rushing by Wisky's tailback in the first half? What the heck are your obvious mediocre standards for defense?

And your reply is Iowa's defense is better than its offense... Guess what, Wisconsin's defense is better than Wisky's offense and Wisky fans don't complain like you do. The reason they don't complain is because Wisky's defense is dominant. Iowa's isn't. Wisky's defense can be highly effective without an effective offense. Iowa's can't.

Wisky's defense is better than Iowa's defense. No, you don't want to state this obvious fact and, hopefully, encourage Iowa's defense to get better.. You want to rag on the offense. ..So, you're not a fan of Iowa football you're a fan of Iowa defense.

We have had good offenses but no one would know it when your game plan is to play "not to lose". Hell, even Alabama would look like shit if that's all they did. OSU was a game where we planned and played not to lose ... Wisky, right back to good old fashioned "Yikes, I'm scared to make a mistake".

Where did I say I was "over satisfied"? You got some real problems. Iowa got destroyed by a team that was a double digit favorite. Yeah I had hope because of the OSU game, but the reality is we are a 7 or 8 win team this year, not a B1G West title contender.
The divisions need rebalancing, then, because there aren't any contenders to Wisconsin in this division, or over the next few years.

Kirk would've never been able to accomplish what he did. Standing up to racists at the height of the civil rights movement. Improving multiple programs. Being a badass Marine. Understanding the psychology of winning. Mentoring to future hall-of-famers. He is stronger and smarter and has a better moral compass than Kirk.

I don't think you can hate on Kirk's morals. There's not enough evidence against and there's a lot of evidence that he is a decent man, husband, father, and an outstanding public figure.

Iowa is poised to have an 8 win season. A season that many of us predicted at 6-6. There's some butt hurt from Wisconsin, but I don't think too many predicted at the beginning of the season Iowa would win at Wisconsin. Granted the manner of the loss hurts but the loss wasn't unexpected.

These next two games are very winnable. I for one, love watching Iowa stomp on Nebraska. I hope it is a 55 -3 game. This week Purdue is coming to Iowa City. I guess we can say that they are like Purdue plus. They are a little better than the average Purdue teams Iowa has faced. Yet this should be a good game for Iowa to build up some stats.

Go Hawks

I was among the few that had us at 9-3. Good defense a long with what was too be a top notch offensive line and two dynamic running backs. If all true then all our quarterback had to do is throw short routes and we should have been an un-stopableon offense. What we did against OSU was what I envisioned for the whole season. It’s just getting old all the damn excuses.

Id grow a moustache like fry's if it was socially accetable these days. I love Hayden. He was our/my coach as a hawkeye fan. KF is my coach now. No reason to hate either man. No reason to raise one up to status of deity when the other has a VERY similar resume. I give coach Fry the nod in the head to head because he rebuilt the program. No reason to hold KF to standards that even Fry couldnt attain. I can appreciate both coaches. Any argument that praises Fry while knocking Ferentz when they have nearly identical resumes is ridiculous. Go Hawks!

Cut the pie however you like, it tastes the same. Same results. Style points for Fry. He was losing to somebody because he and KF have approximately the same number of losses.
