Jok

7 mins vs NU
0 mins vs OSU

Why didn't we redshirt him?

Not unlike our position with Olesani, I think we'll be kicking ourselves in 3 years.

Idk seth but that's a nice question.. Why don't you ask Fran by shooting him a quick facebook message?

yeah pretty stupid move by Fran not to fa the kid if you just are going to leave him on the bench during big ten season.

So, you're just going to throw out the 200 minutes he's already played?

You count those as quality minutes?

I don't know really...just asking about things. My common-sense tells me not to burn a redshirt as a tradeoff to playing against the weaker teams and no mins against the better ones.

But, as others have said, if the correct recipe is to let guards play whatever they can, let them marinate until their soph season (versus red shirt) then Iowa's doing the right thing.

he'll see time against PSU, and then the second time around with NW and Nebby

all the tools, just needs to work on shot selection and court awareness

he'll be all right, and redshirting would have been a mistake

Well that would be fine if you played Nebby again, but we don't and to be frank after the last couple of trips to Lincoln, we haven't fared to well. Penn State is a team NO ONE can sleep on! To be honest, I'd like us to focus on Minny as a TEAM and not worry about ONE player! We have an opportunity to have a special season, but I assure you a loss to Minny at HOME and we'll be right back to square one.

Not as much of a liability as JO is.

You mean when Josh scored 5 quick points then forced a double dribble on the defensive side in crunch time? Just watched White's post game interview where he was praising how important Josh's play was late in the second half. I'm guessing White has a better feel for his team and who is important to it than someone on a message board.

Jok isn't going to RS and he seems okay with his playing time. He looked pretty happy on the bench yesterday as the Hawks were sealing the win...love team 1st players. I'm anxious to see how he improves throughout the remainder of the season. I suspect he will get a few minutes in at least half of our remaining games. He should be an asset next year and be ready to contribute in every game.

If you are including defense in the "court awareness", yes. On the ball, he's average to above average right now. Off the ball, he's completely lost out there. He really didn't have to play defense in high school at the level he's got to play now. Doesn't understand where he's got to be for a three-man rotation for help. Doesn't understand help and recover. He'll learn these things, but right now he is a defensive liability.

Iowa now has Uthoff, Oglesby, Marble, Gesell, McCabe and White? to break tOSU's zone defense in the second half of yesterday's game. If one or more had continued to shoot iron or air, we'd have seen Jok.

Its a deep , deep, team JOK isn't quite ready, and in four years Iowa is going to want the scholarship open I think he is the only scholarship freshman ? Or did Meyer red shirt last year ?

People who think Jok should be playing over Oglesby don't know what they are talking about. Ogelsby has move up the depth chart since his return.

AT this point Jok is a liability at all ends of the court. He plays like a highschool kid, doesn't value the ball on offense, is mostly looking to get up shots regardless of the quality, and doesn't understand how to play defense. He actually plays younger than his age.

JO is not a great player but he makes very few mistakes and turnovers, he is not a great athlete but he understands how to play D, he has the best court vision on the team and his bball IQ is miles ahead of Jok.

Im very pleased with what Josh is bringing this year and on top of that hes finally starting to hit some 3s.

Jok has scored in double figures more times this season that the greatest high school shooter ever, Matt Thomas. So he has that going for him.
