King may be a cornerback in Iowa's defense but he'll be a safety in the pros. His draft status will also drop. 3-5 round.
Hyde went in the 5th round, if I'm not mistaken. IMO, similar talents. Look, if all goes to my plan, King could have a pretty good career as a safety in the NFL.
King won't be a cornerback in the NFL because Iowa's defense doesn't hone man-on-man cover skills. And also why not too many highly rated high school cornerbacks are recruited to Iowa.

I agree that King will most likely play safety but just no way he drops past the 2nd round.. !! He may even go late 1st, but I say 2nd is a lock.. Also keep in mind that CB is one of the most drafted positions.

Safeties can be gotten on the cheap in the draft (which is what King will be). NFL drafters covet defensive backs who can cover one-on-one.
Which round did Sherman go when he was drafted? Realize Seattle's system allowed Sherman to go as high as he did in the draft. I will be looking more at the NFL team's defensive organization than draft round to determine when King will be drafted.
Maybe Cleveland or the Raiders will draft him in the first round?

I think King will be looked at much the same way Hyde is value wise. Safe to say Hyde made himself some money with how he played down the stretch and in the playoffs. He won't be just a corner or just a safety. He'll be all over. I have a tough time seeing a player of his ilk that likes to hit and tackle like he does falling outside the 2nd round. That won't happen unless he runs like a 4.6 or something slower. A crazy poor showing in the combine could obviously drop him but he's got so much good play on film I can't see him dropping too far I just can't.

You might be right. I'm just used to seeing Iowa players go later than what the experts predict every time so was being conservative with the picks.

For King the 40 time, the agility drills are huge. Gut feeling tells me he is probably a safety at the NFL level. I think he struggles turning his hips and running with NFL receivers. Speivey and Godfrey had the same issues, Hyde did as well to a certain degree...all those guys made the transition long enough to earn a decent chunk of change.
